Have you ever done something similar?

REP ๐Ÿšซ

I have been in a writing slump. Several weeks ago, I started the revision of four related stories. I am merging the stories and revising the story text as I incorporate it into the new story. The effort is mostly reading with correction of errors.

When I needed a break, I went to my Library and selected one of the listed stories to read and relax. As I was reading, I would spot an error. I highlighted the error and tried to correct it. Then I realized what I was doing and laughed at myself for trying to do an on-line correction to another author's story.

Has anyone else done something similar?

I do that all the time, but I have every story downloaded and converted to my local library so I actually CAN correct typos so I don't encounter them again when I reread a story.
The downside is that rereading isn't noticed on SOL so no change in the download counter for that story. The upside is that it isn't noticed on SOL :) (i.e. no burden without a connection.)

Can't say that I have, but it would be a handy feature for the site to have! I mean, who could turn down free editing... LOL..

(Yes, I am aware that, that particular feature will never happen, due to the inevitable miss-use of the facility/ability)

Me. LOL

I'm a control freak.

I would love to have an easy-to-use editing tool by which one could suggest changes in a uniform fashion.

Of course, that's impossible, because people read in too many ways. My way to read SoL stories is using an EPUB reader on my phone. Hard to send changes that way.

Actually making the edits? Nope, definitely not. Even if it was just simple typo correction, I would want to approve it.

Actually, that's very easy, if you are reading with Google Play Books:
While reading when you encounter an error select the wrong text highlight it, add a note.

Configure PlayBooks to backup the Notes to Google Drive
Just open the notes in Drive and you can copy paste to the feedback form.

Interesting. I've never used that reader. But, of course, that was the point - many other readers don't support that workflow.

I doubt I would switch for that, but it would make it easier to export errors, no doubt.

A "tool" for readers to suggest edits would be great. I, like Grey Wolf, and most other writers would want to control All Changes.

For now I appreciate readers who PM me with spelling, grammar, and other suggestions.

In my head while reading. I change it in my head.

I change it in my head.

I've done that for many years, so the text displayed makes sense. But I've evolved to trying to change what I see on the screen. :)

I've done that a lot, but my SAVE function must not be working, because when I reread it at a later date, the errors are still there. ๐Ÿ™ƒ
