I ran across star guardians by Duncan7 in a thread here, but for some reason the system is hiding the author from appearing in searches by author and title name.

Also funny, I have spent perhaps 7 hours reading the first 2 parts of the series, and 10 chapters of the 3 part, and the story tracking system, refuses to list these stories in the "thing you have read in the last 24 hours".

IS this system flaw, or a deliberate action on the website?

Also realized that the website logs me OUT of the website Once I am actually reading one of this persons stories. Yet i have no issue going through each story, or going to his home page here and selecting a new story. Have never seen that before.

I guess I should figure out a way to differentiate the sites visually. Too many people message me on StoryRoom or ScifiStories reporting that their libraries are missing, when they don't have any on those sites and extensive ones on SOL.

How about adding links on the user's library pages, pointing at (non-empty) libraries on the other sites (possibly with a count of stories as well)?

That should only apply if the author uses the same 'nym (and presumably email address) across the various sites.

Having been one of those individuals in the past, I think the issue could be that many individuals think they are the same account/site. Changing the look mat help curtail that belief. Or it may not...

My suggestion is to modify the search routine to search all three sites. when a search is done, search all 3 sites and return and return the results (to include the name of each site) as follows:

(1) If only on one site has results, return the results from that site- as long as the user is not underage. If the user is underage, see below.

(2) If multiple sites return results, return the results from those sites. If the user is underage, see below.

For both (1) and (2) - If the user is underage and there are search results from SOL, suppress those results and display the other results.

SOL doesn't have a formal age verification method. There is a declaration when logging in that the user is of legal age, ergo there are no known underage users.

For both (1) and (2) - If the user is underage and there are search results from SOL, suppress those results and display the other results.

SciFiStories has the same adult content rules as SOL so shouldn't be treated any differently from SOL.

Since the servers are not in the same location and such things require direct access to databases, maintaining such a system is hugely complicated matter.

Not worth it.

I'll figure out a way to visually distinguish the sites.

Underlayering with vanilla for Story Room, reddish for SOL and some metal tone for SciFi 😉
