Site appears to blocked by ISPs in New Zealand

Verlorener ๐Ÿšซ

I've been trying to get access to the site the last two days and only getting 503 errors. I had a thought it might have been added to the list of dangerous sites by my ISP so I downloaded a vpn and it instantly gave me access.

Perhaps there are bestiality stories involving sheep on SOL?

Unfortunately, there are people who want to save you from doing things that harm no one. They believe your activities are immoral and/or pornographic, thus harmful to you and others. Therefore, they believe they have to stop you from hurting yourself and corrupting others.

They pass laws making your activities illegal and those laws also target businesses, such as an ISP, that enable you in doing what you want to do. In certain areas, there is no law prohibiting you from doing what you want to do; however, someone, such as a DA, claims that what you are doing is pornographic because it violates his personal moral code. This occurred in the US several years ago. The legal authorities who passed the laws prohibiting pornographic materials were unable to agree on a definition of what was and was not pornographic. A DA charged a man with distribution of pornographic matter and to prove the matter was pornographic said that he knew what was and was not pornographic.

These people give themselves the right to be your jury, judge, and executioner.

I guess he knew from vast personal experience...

The DA was a very religious individual and followed his church's preachings. So it more likely from sitting in church receiving many sermons of brain washing.

The 'moral majority', who are neither particularly moral nor a majority, just self-opinionated and very vocal.

I'll shut up now, otherwise this thread will become political.

@Lazeez Jiddan

Lazeez, have you seen any indication that this is another attack on the site by other 'concerned citizens' like the one about a month ago?

@Verlorener

I'd have thought the chances were higher that your problems come from a single ISP. Another possibility would be geo-blocking by CloudFlare but that would have to have been ordered by Lazeez and he will not be doing that.

A number of non-controversial sites also have similar problems lately - like Flightradar24.

It has (as best I can tell) to do with CloudFlare and Amazon's "fingerprinting" your browser to track your browsing habits.

Some browsers are able to avoid those problems - might try Brave, for example. It seems to work (at least here). As usual, YMMV.

I have the same issues in New Zealand, though fortunately, I also use a VPN. Many viewers may not know of this workaround. I initially thought it was down to the site moving servers.

I'm also in New Zealand and have been unable to access SOL for the last few days. In my case, this manifests as blank pages (the subject of another thread at the moment). I am only able to access the site, this thread and comment here while using a VPN. I'm not with one of the major ISPs and I get the same behaviour while using mobile data, where I am using one of the major providers, so I suspect that the blocking is not at ISP level unless both my providers rely on the same third-party blacklist.

@Straggler

Purely as a public service and in the interests of education and information, I visited a number of story sites and pornographic websites. SOL was the only one blocked.

And because it gets mentioned frequently as also being blocked, I had no issues accessing Flightradar24.

As of this morning, Saturday 03 May, access to SOL seems to have been restored in New Zealand.

I'm in Australia. I am seeing intermittent 503 errors as well and have been for a week or 10 days.

I have been getting slow refreshes for the last couple of days, really bad today. Always seeing the little note at the bottom left of the screen about reading from static.cloudflare.(i don't remember the rest of it). I finally had to reboot, and now everything is back at speed.
