Anyone know what happened with the stories? I was reading it and then when I click next it suddenly can't be opened. Did the author delete it? Hoping there is a place I can read about it.

Puzzle Box Genie
Puzzle Box Genie RisingFlame 2021-01-15 Deleted at author's request
Noooo!
This was my favourite story on the site :(
I can't find their Author Profile in the site either.
the author deleted his story together with his account. sadly enough I can't find his stories after 2 days of search on another site, nor can I use the archive to look back cause stories online hide the chps behind the login.
author deleted his story together with his account.
When all the stories associated with a pen name are deleted, that pen name is hidden from view automatically - not necessarily deleted.
It's interesting because I googled "Puzzle Box Genie" and it connected to Puzzle Box Genie - Storiesonline as the first two entries but when I clicked on them the story that was returned was "Oh My God I'm Naked"
by Stevew and more interesting was that the URL was https://storiesonline.net/s/11947/puzzle-box-genie. It was also submitted on the same date (2021-01-15)that RisingFlame deleted the story and closed his account.
Does this count as part of the Genie Story curse to which many a 'genie' author fall victim?

Yes.
Makes you wonder if he was getting too close to the truth and the Magi decided to shut him up lest readers start putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
Most likely scenarios:
1. wrote self into corner as far as intended plot, and couldn't recover
2. decided to self-publish elsewhere
Much more likely than believing the Illuminati (who don't actually exist, never have existed, and never will exist) chose to silence some writer.
note: this message has been approved by the Illuminati.
Illuminati (who don't actually exist, never have existed, and never will exist)
actually, the Illuminati did exist, and still do - just not in the way the conspiracy idiots say they do. In fact, the biggest and longest lasting organisation to exist and operate in the way the conspiracy people claim the Illuminati behave is known as the Roman Catholic Church Council of Cardinals.
The Illuminati was, and still is a discussion group of brilliant minds who do nothing as a group, except talk to each other.

Bilderberg, on the other hand ....
LOL.
I actually didn't believe in the whole conspiracy theory regarding secret societies controlling the world from behind the scenes. I just stuck them into my latest book just because I was making a joke counterpart to SPECTRE or Hydra, since this is a 'super-hero' story.
You'll note the key word in that sentence is 'didn't'.
When I put this disclaimer up, 'Any names and/or other similarities between people, living, dead, or fictional are purely coincidental (maybe).', it was a joke. As I've been doing legitimate research (NOT going to the conspiracy websites, but actually just reading Wikipedia - and verifying through following links to articles from newspapers of the time (trust, but verify) - I'll be damned if there's not something to it.
An example is that the 3rd Baron Rothschild was friends and worked with Kim Philby and other Russian spies, while also being in British Intelligence and making a rather poor disclaimer that he wasn't one of their spies, too. And he was also working with and friends with the Rockefeller family, who had wartime connections deep within the OSS and afterwards into the CIA. Then you find that the Rothschild family, as bankers, financed BOTH sides with loans during a couple of European continental wars, and have ties through Bilderberg to European leaders.
Then to have Bilderberg say, we're here just to exchange ideas, but one of those ideas really is, as per them, a 'New World Order'? (Seriously, that's not a conspiracy theory, like I thought it was - it's something they talk about wanting to do.)
I feel like I've entered the Twilight Zone at times, because what I thought I was writing as fiction, to a certain extent, isn't.

Welcome to my world!
When you study history in depth you'll be surprised at how many organisations had to move underground to stay safe from the persecution of the Catholic Church because they promoted such wild ideas as individuals being able to talk to God directly, and ideas like people being able to live their lives without the interference of the Catholic Church hierarchy. Many organisations started as public groups with open meetings, but once the persecutions started they became secret societies simply to stay alive. All of the Protestant Churches started out that way, as did the Bavarian Illuminati, Rosacrutions, the Masons, and the Templars being the most well known of them. - The most dangerous crime any of them committed was to believe the teachings in the Bible were more important than the edicts of the power hungry throng in the Council Of Cardinals and the dictatorial power brokers guys called The Pope.
the Masons, and the Templars being the most well known of them
Based upon the definition of the word, 'cult', I can't help but think that the Catholic Church is one.
I happen to be a Chivalric Knight of the Holy Order of the Fellow Soldiers of Jacques DeMolay, and a Master Mason. That, and a dollar, will get me a coffee at McDonald's.
But amusingly enough, more than four decades AFTER the last time I took part in a DeMolay initiation ceremony, I still remember most of the script, as well as WHY the Church went after them. Can't have a group more popular OR wealthier than the Church.
That, and a dollar, will get me a coffee at McDonald's.
McDonald's has a price for hot coffee of $1.00. However in states with sales tax you will also have to pay the sales tax. In Oregon your statement is correct, since it has no state or local sales taxes. Residents pay state income tax instead. There may be other states that do not charge sales taxes, but I am pretty sure there aren't many. In most parts of Washington State you would have to pay $1.10 or $1.11. They tend to round up, my latest purchase at WinCo in Snohomish County, Washington shows a sales tax of 10.4 percent. But Washington continues to avoid a state income tax.
However in states with sales tax you will also have to pay the sales tax.
I end up getting change back. Senior discount! 87 cents plus tax for a large coffee here. With local sales tax, it's 95 cents.
In most parts of Washington State you would have to pay $1.10 or $1.11.
Some merchants will advertise the after tax price and back out the tax for reporting purposes.
So suppose a 10% sales task.
They advertise a $1.00 price and charge the buyer exactly that.
Then when reporting/paying the sales tax they report it as a $0.91 sale with $0.09 tax.
I suspect that, if you read The Illuminatus Trilogy, Foucault's Pendulum, and The Da Vinci Code back to back to back, you will either achieve enlightenment or fall irrevocably into paranoia and chaos.
Those may be the same thing.

Those may be the same thing.
It's not paranoia when they really ARE out to get you.
I think once I start publishing Book Three, I'll put up in my blog some of the emails conversations I've had with Jim about this book. Ernest said, 'Welcome to his world', when you start doing in-depth research. I'm weirded out because I've made decisions and written entire chapters, then needed to do research later on, and found out that the stuff I was pulling out of thin air has basis in fact. CalΓ© / CaLe and the Romany are example.
Another is when I decided that Shiva needed to have a mountain home, and I went, hey, let's look at a list of mountain names, that one sounds good, I'll use it. Wrote everything up, then did a bit more research on it. Huh, you're not allowed to climb it? Oh, religious reasons. What are those? Guess why you're not allowed to climb it? It's considered the home of Shiva. Mind you, I didn't know that until AFTER I'd already written my stuff.
My comment to Jim was - how the hell am I getting this stuff right without knowing it?
I see that you intentionally changed the target of my pondering to create a diversion. Nowhere did I mention the non-existent Illuminati and I have to wonder why you were so quick to draw attention away from the Magi. What are you trying to hide? What do you know? Did you have a hand in the mysterious disappearance we're talking about? Hmmm.....

RE: #1 He could have just left it up unfinished.
Unless he didn't want to deal with it being I&I eventually.
He could have marked the story complete and said that there would be a 'Volume 2' in the future.
Unless he didn't want to deal with it being I&I eventually.
Why would he have had to deal with it? As opposed to simply ignoring it.
The assumption was it was good enough that people would continuously be asking him about completing it.
The assumption was it was good enough that people would continuously be asking him about completing it.
And he can't ignore those requests why? And besides, he removed all of his stories (assuming he had any others) and his author profile is effectively gone, so I think the assumption that he would even be around to receive such requests is a stretch.
You're making assumptions.
Perhaps that pen name belonged to some writer known by another name, and only had the one story under the one name. So removing that story would remove the name associated with it from showing up. If anything new is posted under that identity, the profile still exists.
As to ignoring the requests - maybe he just didn't want to receive them, but did want other feedback about how great he is?
You're making assumptions.
So are you. The author is gone, along with his blog, so unless he blogged about why and someone captured and preserved it, assumptions are all we have.

So are you.
Actually, I was proposing possible alternate explanations, rather than assuming any of them were actually true.
Rising Flame did have another story here at Storiesonline, but he abandoned it early on and concentrated on the more successful Puzzle Box Genie story. Eventually he took down the incomplete abandoned story while continuing to post new chapters of PBG.
I seem to recall that Rising Flame's other story involved teenage spies.
RisingFlame had just updated it with Chapter 63 a couple of weeks ago, so he would have a long wait for it to go I&I.

Shit, I thought I had all he had posted but it seems I missed the last chapter (63).

Oops... my bad. I saw that my epub listed "1-63", but in reality, it was counting "The Cast of Characters" in that number (so it is just 62 Chapters). Sorry to scare you or give you false hope.
I just thought I missed a download for one of the many ongoing stories I plan to read when they are finished. I keep track of over 50 stories that way, so it's easy to miss something every now and then. I do that locally, not through the library, since stories can disappear as was in this case. I would use the library if what you have there would remain even after an author removes the story. Lately there have been a few of these removals so I wouldn't be surprised if more readers start downloading partial stories just to preserve them in case they disappear from the site.
I managed to save up to chapter 58. I kept putting off saving the newest ones "I'll get it later"...
well, oops.
I have up to chapter 62 downloaded

Any chance I can get a copy please?
Please note vic.bor.ster is NOT responding to requests posted in this thread. I suggest Lazeez lock this thread.
