Attn: all Authors and Editors - Thanks for authorship

It was brought to my attention viewing a YouTube video that consumers of entertainment need to be more appreciative of the creators and editors and curators of works that we consume that we need to be more appreciative and be more vocal in that appreciation.

I have tried to Live that by that ideal and just recently had some very positive feedback from an author for doing so. unfortunately I have forgotten the numerous authors of the 2000+ books that I read on this website so I'm reaching out in this forum as a general thank you that your creativity and time and effort has been appreciated and that I look forward to more works coming in the future and hope that everyone's health and peace of mind continues in good frame in the New Year

cheers Brods

PS I have no idea what grammar is so no complaints ;)

Thanks, Brods.

I'll let you in on a poorly kept secret. Most of us authors and editors can't agree on what is proper grammar. We all use slightly different rules or interpretations of the rules.

To be brutally honest that is why I used to not give my feedback and appreciation via text it's because I hate the fact that I couldn't grammatically present it well

Trust me, I have never criticized a response to my stories based on their grammar or punctuation. I'm much more interested in what they thought of the story, whether they liked or hated it.

Authors live on feedback, it's how we figure out whether our stories are appealing to anyone or not. What's more, for the majority of us, the 'pay' we get for our stories does little more than offset the cost of publishing. Our only real payment is in feedback from authors, and when that feedback eventually peters off, it becomes harder and harder to continue, as it's like shouting into an empty canyon, especially when there's no echo.

I agree with Crumbly. Give us all you got and then some more. Most of us will love it.

Those of us who don't want feedback, disable it.

I agree as well. Once the story goes out there (the first truly big decision for a new author, I think), feedback is very important.

Both positive and negative feedback is entirely welcome, though I'll reply to a number of negative things with 'sorry it's not your cup of tea'. But the reason I can be ok with that is that it's obviously many other people's cup of tea. If it was no one's cup of tea, it's be a huge waste of time.

that applies to 99% of the world's population, so don't worry about that.

I agree with all of the above. The authors put in the hours dreaming up the stories and make an effore to present them in a readable and understandable fashion. Most writers also appreciate comments on the stories whether the review is good, bad, or indifferent.

Why else would we try to write many of the stories read in SOL.

I have read thousands of stories in SOL and in preceding forums like "Kri****" and have always appreciated them. I wrote some there and on a couple of offshoots as well as here in SOL. I have only had 3 replies or e-mails mentioning ANY appreciation of any of them.
