Finally got home, got the car back home (dad drove himself to the hospital Tuesday so the car was sitting up there since), got my uncle (dad's brother) and his wife staying for a while as we process the legal and financial side of things.
I am putting his accounts here and other publishing places in to maintenance mode with a memorandum informing there will be no future updates of stories, but what he has published will stay available for reading and purchase - it'll be a revenue stream to help supplement my pension now I'm down from having 2 pensions in the house to just my own.
I am yet to figure out what is going to happen with the partial and nearly-finished stories dad was working on as I know there has been a lot of hype regarding a few of them.
For those morbidly curious, it was systemic failure triggered by what most likely was a gallstone triggering the pancreatic infection and inflammation that hospitalised him.
Dad was put under GA in to a medical coma on Thursday afternoon (East Aus time), and passed away in his sleep as-of approx 03:30 2022/07/16 AEST.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I considered your dad a friend. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences. I appreciated your Dad's insight and considered him one of the good people on this planet.
Ernest helped me many times over the years, mostly with Libre Office. Last year, not knowing he was feeling bad, I asked him for help on a story I was hung up on. I sent it to him, and we E-mailed back and forth about the story. I really feel bad about asking him for help. I guess I'll get off my ass and finish it. If you are cleaning out his files, the story "The Wheel Goes Round" a story about motorcycle tours in Nicaragua, can be deleted.

My deep regards to you and your family. He was one of my favorite authors, be it a new story or rereading one of his older classics, ala Finding Home or Shiloh as I have been for the past week. Whether I agreed or not, his commentaries were always welcome. Despite the many times in my life I have visited Down Under, he showed me many places that weren't on my itineraries. He will be missed.

I was shocked late last night when I learned of Ernie's death. So at this time, I would like to extend my condolences to you, Gary, and the rest of his family. He will be missed. I communicated with Ernie on numerous occasions by email about several matters and considered him to be one of the better authors on SOL; even though we disagreed about how to punctuate sentences.
P.S. While preparing the Contributor's Page, I checked the Profile section of his Author Page and learned that it contained the personal information he provided to me several years ago. In his Contributor's Page I will reference his Profile for that information.
Ernest enjoyed a Life Well Lived. Persevering through various difficulties. He both entertained and caused people to think. A good legacy.

Thank you for keeping his writings available. I hope his unfinished works are eventually completed. Better to wait to find the right person (or persons).
If you post at least once a year, Ernest's account will stay active and people will have an easier time finding his writings.
When you have time, you could put on Bookapy others of Ernest's writings and also advertise the links to Bookapy at the end of each story.
I believe you may also link to another story too. Laz should be able to advise you on the options.

That can't be right. It takes me over a year to write a novel so I can go over a year without posting. I thought it had to do with logins.

A big loss to SOL. Ernest was an excellent storyteller and writer. Also a kind and caring person. He recently went above and beyond to assist me with a problem on Lulu regarding some of his stories. He will be missed. RIP Ernest.

Sorry to hear this. Ernest and I went way back ... We had a contentious relationship. Mostly dealing with technical stuff.
But he was an author... and I am not. He was prolific and I am lazy.

And I was just rereading the clan series again last week. loved his Rivers books, as well as his DiD books.
Guess its time for another binge reading of his works.
As I understand it, the 1632 project will continue. Eric Flint put in place an Editorial Board years ago.
