A tiny respite...

Posted at

I've written about this before, but when I write, I'll open an extra tab on the browser and put on something to listen to in the background. When I first started this writing thang, I tried the local radio station, but the commercials easily distracted me, so I set up a list on YouTube and have been using it ever since. I pick the tunes, and don't listen to anything but the original or a remixed version of something from my raving years.

Recently, I've gone down the remixes and extended versions of popular hits. If you genuinely enjoy the songs, this is a great way to experience them.

So picture this, I'm in my writing room. I've got the overhead lights off and the only illumination is the petrifying blankness of an empty page on LibreOffice Writer. Just me, the tunes from the background tabs, and occasionally, whenever the song commands it, like the one I had last night. I'll light a couple of mood candles.

I found a channel that has become an excellent respite, and I decided to create a list based solely on it. It is named 'Euphoric Haggis - Music Soothes the Soul,' a great name that caught my attention first. Then I went down the back list and squealed several times, like a teenage girl getting their first real Valentine's Day present.

For about the fifteenth time since I found it, I've been looping the latest song posted by Pink Floyd, "Welcome to the Machine." I just blew out the candles I had going beside the monitor, and I'm already becoming disgusted with myself.

Mainly because the damned LibreOffice Writer blank page is still taunting me.

I lost a whole damn night. But then again, I did enjoy myself, so the time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. John Lennon was right.

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that the gummies I tried kicked in somewhere around the third time I replayed this song.

Tee hee.
