One of the facets of writing that I find done incorrectly by, perhaps, a majority of English-speaking writers in amateur writing and elsewhere is not understanding the difference between adjectives and adverbs. One of the first criteria that I use to decide whether to even open a story here or at other online sites is the story's description. When I find blatant grammatical errors, particularly a number of them, in the story description, I move on to the next option without opening it. Get the description in good order and once I've opened the story, I might continue to read it unless the grammar is just too egregious for me to continue.
Adjectives are modifiers that modify nouns and pronouns and only those.
Adverbs are modifiers that modify all other parts of speech/writing; that is, they modify everything EXCEPT nouns or pronouns.
This means that if one wishes to modify or describe an action -- such as 'go,' one needs to use an adverb -- such as 'smoothly,' rather than 'smooth.'
Things go smoothly. The freshly sanded board is smooth.
He is fricking sexy and he dances sexily.
