I promised to get David and friends through high school and I've talked it over with my editors and we feel that will be a good stopping point. They've threatened me that if I end the book on either a cliffhanger (which I would never do ;-) ) or 'it was all a dream' they will hunt me down.
So the pressure is on to make the last book the best.
What's next?
I will take the Halloween story, The Chosen, and turn that into a full book. We've already outlined it and have a good idea of what we will do to make it a full story.
Then I will write a six story series A Better Man. It will follow the development of a young man who has had some success in high school and he will see if that success can continue through college.
I'm lazy, so creating a new character would be too hard. With that in mind, we will write about David and his friends in college.
Be warned that the writing style for this series will be different. It will no longer be simply first person from David's point of view. If I'd realized how limiting that was when writing a story I would never have started that way. This way I can get other character perspectives and move the story along easier.
The other change will it will not be such a compressed timeline. It won't be a day-by-day diary of David's life.
I've always said that I wrote Stupid Boy to learn to write. I am hoping that A Better Man will help move that along.
Thank you for all your feedback and for putting up with my warped sense of humor.
