In Chapter 17, Pēteris' plans to rescue his Damsel come to fruition. We learn that his convoluted scheme has a motive beyond this current adventure.
In Chapter 18, they return to the farm and on to Beavis. Sarah and Cherry knew about Damsels, but the Damsels didn't know about Sarah and Cherry. Oops!
