I've just submitted a short story in the Dryad series. Kat and her family play an important part, too.
Ted
Thanks to those who responded to my appeal. Sadly, it looks as though the facts get in the way of the story I was intending to write. Still, the characters are too good to waste, so a change of plan is necessary. Incidentally, the Territorial Army is now the 'Army Reserve'. Who knew?
Ted
The final chapter of this episode is in the queue. It seems there are some intriguing possibilities for future diary entries, but for now we have to leave them to explore their relationships.
I'm still looking for current information about the British Territorial Army. Please?
Ted
There is - or used to be - a British Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve, made up of part-time - VERY part-time soldiers. Some of my colleagues used to take off for training manoeuvres as medics in the TA, but I never got involved. I'm working on a short story which would be helped by some accurate information about how the TAVR (if it's still going) works, from enlistment to training to commitment.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has some more or less current experience of the organisation; otherwise I may have to give up on the tale. Thing is, I like to be accurate, and I'd just as soon not get a barrage of feedback after I post telling me all the things I've got wrong!
Ted
It's barely 24 hours, and I have my little laptop back, working, with files intact. Let joy be unconfined!
And I've immediately saved the file I wanted to my backup disk...
Talk about bolting the stable door...
Thanks, too, to all the people who either or both offered commiserations and/or advice.
Ted
