My "A Little Mystery" prompted a number of emails explaining how arithmetic only appeared to be broken. One person hinted that I might not understand the minor mystery. Most explanations were clear and concise. My story is an old math word problem dressed up a bit giving the salesmen an excuse for renting a motel.
Several people pointed out the misdirection. The arithmetic is correct as it stands but it has no reason to sum to 30. Try running the story with Billy not returning the $5. 30+5 vs the story's 27+2.
In our third group of biographical glimpses, our Miss Z interacts with more people, makes less money, and has more sex. The chef, Robert Robertson, and his wife get a long-term gig with the kind of benefits they desire. The very rich Mel Brand couple has a need met. Three young women spend a month as high-end escorts. One attempt at forced sex does not go well for the attacker.
Z never leaves The Island, a tropical nation. Consensual sex work is legal. Public nudity is only allowed on two beaches.
Z's mother was an at-home nudist and single mom. Z and her sister, Fran, were naked at home once they no longer needed diapers. When Z was thirteen she attempted to give a blow job to a 10yo boy. (He quickly lost interest and Z quit her attempt.) Her mom had no problem with Z exploring her sexuality.
A month later the young sisters lost their mom to a nasty pneumonia. Child Protective Services found a tiny house where Z and Fran can live together with brief daily CPS visits.
At 16, Z gets a boyfriend and soon she and her sister give their virginity to 16yo Rick May. The girls share Rick as Team Girlfriend. Even Rick's parents believe Rick and Z are boyfriend and girlfriend with little sister, Fran, always welcome.
Two years later Z, now 18, becomes a sex worker when that 10yo boy, now 15, wants that blowjob and more.
Z writes an ad. Her first client owns RITC, Round Island Tour Company. Z and Fran host RITC's Nude Beach Tour for cruise ship passengers. They are the inspiration for RITC's late-night Copulating Couples Cruise.
Z is lucky. Her first client is rich and treats her well. She services a number of interesting clients. She pleases two more rich clients: a married couple, Mel and Alice Brand, and an about 40yo single man, Paul Packet III.
But the sisters are unlucky that Rick must return to Chicago with his parents. He attends UIC and is set for Harvard Law with a full-ride assuming excellent grades. (Parents are senior lawyers with a Chicago based law firm.) The only bright side is the sisters will be paid to keep the place ready for short term use for other senior lawyers. They can use the place when it's not otherwise occupied.
Just reposted 5 of my 11 chapters. In one place one word was added and in two places a single word was deleted. In one place a missing semicolon changed the meaning of the sentence. I only noticed because CoullPert told me about it. I was also informed about two to's that should have been too's. I had already found one place without quote marks where my MC was speaking. I went through the entire story and fixed a few other missing quote marks.
It's been much too long but Generous Offers 2 - The Cruise is as ready as it's going to be. Look for it Real Soon Now. Mike's ladies (read: sluts) have to wait 19 months before they can each access well over US$ 100,000,000. But Mike has a way to allow them to share access to $800,000 without waiting. He shares an idea and his ladies love it.
Hopefully, my research is not too far out of line. Only two items are sure: (1) a Gulfstream 550 can fly nonstop from San Francisco to Sydney, Australia. (2) Such an aircraft is quiet enough to depart SJC (San Jose, CA) during overnight curfew hours.
I actually visited Signature Flight Support in San Jose.
Symphony in Sydney is from 2018.
Other items got my best guess.
=Cost for19 months of $400,000 prepaid term life insurance for healthy female
=Cost to fly SJC to SYD on a private jet (with a somewhat flexible traveler's schedule)
=Actual in-air time for such a flight departing in November (I found something that almost worked…)
