I took a day off from work this week due to a stomach bug, so my internal calendar was off and I forgot to queue the next chapter for posting.
Anyway, it's a little late, but it should be up any minute now.
Well, I was able to get something resembling a chapter done before Friday, so there will be an update, although a short one.
It's not all I hoped to accomplish, but it does mean that I still have ideas left in the tank for a later intermission. I expect next Friday to continue with the main storyline.
Cheers!

We are coming to the end of the regular chapter updates. This Friday will be chapter 7, and Chapter 8 should be ready by next Friday. Chapter 9 is the last of the backlog of work I had completed before starting to post, but I don't think I want to jump straight into it.
After Chapter 8, while I have a lot of new work ready to post, it's ended up as a lot of slice-of-life, and not a lot of excitement or action. I am working on the other storylines which I always planned on interleaving (much like the early Girls / Chester chapters were) but progress is slow.
I got really excited writing about Chester, Neta, and Khea's new life together, and am having a hard time getting into the headspace of different, less enjoyable characters.
However, the beauty is that it doesn't really matter *where* in the book the interstitials appear (although it will undoubtedly make a difference) as long as they appear before the events they need to setup, and after events they spoil. I.e., The Girls' chapters could have come anywhere between the Chester chapters, as long as both occur before they meet.
I think a trip to see how the Village is doing is worth exploring, but which character's eyes to do it through is hard to choose. Similarly, I would like to get to know Khea a little more.
Are there characters or events you would like to peek in on?
It's been almost a decade since I first posted Round Two, and although the story has languished, I still consider it one of my long-term goals to publish a complete work. I've poked at the story every few months as time has allowed, and I was fortunate enough to find a large block late last year to make some decent progress.
As I've said before, the two main issues are that the original story painted itself into a corner that I couldn't write my way out of, and that my life is unpredictable in terms of what free time I have to share amongst my many hobbies. So I knew I needed something close to a rewrite, but that would take time I didn't have.
I now have rewritten at least as much as was originally posted, plus about twice as many additional words, although only half of all that is actually edited. I think it is a much better story, but it's still incomplete and I still don't have a clear route from where it stops to where I want it to end--it's much closer than where I stopped version 1, but not there yet.
Assuming there are still people who read this, I guess I have two questions. I would like to post what I have so far simply because it's hard to just sit on so much work without any payoff.
Would you want to see what you can now, knowing that there is still the possibility that it ends up incomplete and inactive again, or would you rather wait for a complete story?
And this one is more of a logistical question,
Would it make any difference to any of you if the new rewrite *replaces* the current story (as it's written to) or is posted side-by-side.
If I post them side-by-side then the old version would need to be removed from the universe as it is no longer canon, and I'm not sure if that is possible. My ego also wants to keep the unnaturally high score that the story currently possesses. So no promises; I'm just curious.
For those that are still watching, I appreciate it. I still think you're crazy, but I have to respect the dedication.

P.S., the OCD half of me almost wants to wait another 25 months and make a complete repost on the anniversary of the first post, but the rational part of me knows it may not be complete even then.
I know a few of you still watch to see if there will be new chapters of Round Two. I don't know why you do so after five years, but I occasionally get messages from you.
I can't promise anything; all the reasons I stopped are still there, but I have started an actual edit of what I've already written. I expect to upload the revised editions soon, so the posted work isn't of such low quality. However, this may get me back in the groove of writing again.
For those that have asked, I have two major hurdles. First, my day job fluctuates randomly between autopilot and stroke-inducing levels of work, so many hobbies or routines are inevitably interrupted. Second, I need to step back and do some actual planning for the story. I can probably go another dozen chapters or so by the seat of my pants, but I'm just going to be digging a bigger and bigger hole for myself. I've already introduced plot holes and shot myself in the foot in only a few chapters, so I need a basic floorplan before I feel like I can reasonably continue.
Anyways, just an update for whoever is listening.
