I wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone that voted for me and my stories.
It has been a journey over the last nine years when I introduced the world to Stupid Boy. I was lucky from the beginning because Rev. Cotton Mather, famous for writing the Playing the Game trilogy, told me I could tell a story but needed an editor desperately.
I began writing Stupid Boy, thinking I needed to learn how to write. The goal was to eventually write the first book I thought of loosely as Star Academy. From day one, my goal has been to learn my craft, and it helped that you were not shy in sharing your opinions of my writing.
Some were very helpful and said stuff like: “Just finished reading your book and found a couple of errors, but I forgot the write them down.”
Then some came out of left field and compared me to other writers. For Sell Anything on Craigslist – Mark Twain / My Intended – Ann Rice / Conclave – Colin Dexter (wrote the Inspector Morse series) and many others.
I shared this with my editors and laughed at myself because I am not near the writer they are. Then one of them pointed out they were all dead, so I probably could outwrite them now. I feel guilty admitting that they are right... I can probably outwrite a dead person-- IF my editors are on their game.
The long and the short of it is I started a prequel to Star Academy a few weeks ago. Then I found my scribblings from over twenty years ago, containing the beginning of Star Academy. I think the universe is trying to tell me that I might be ready.
I want to thank you all for taking the time to read my stuff. I’ll begin posting a short story on SOL today called Sister Swap. It’s a short story that reflects what I came to SOL to read way back in the day. Basic naughty stuff.
In March, you will find The Valley. It’s about a young man that loses his mother and has to move in with his father, who he has never met, and his family. His father has done well for himself … in porn. He has to deal with the grief of losing someone and his strict Catholic background, surrounded by people he would never have spent time with back home.
At the end of August, I will start posting A Better Man III. Book IV has not been started yet, so don’t ask when it will be ready … I honestly have no idea.

Congratulations to the twenty-two writers who entered this year.
Sage of the Forlorn Path won with In Darkness Dwells
RosiePalmer was second with The Vampire Witch
G Younger was third with Stepmonster
You can find all the stories under the Contest tab up top.
Finally, note to self. Your characters have to be likable... they can't be monsters.

Starting this week, the story will post three times a week (Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday).
Somewhere a rumor started that A Better Man Book 3 was the last book in the series. I want everyone to know that this is not the case. My plan is to do the college years and then take a step back. At that point, I may decide to do one last book to cover David's adult years, or I might just end it there.
What the rumor had right was that the series will eventually end.
I will also be writing other books between each Better Man offering, if for no other reason than my sanity. This last one took me 11 months to write. That leaves me little time to write about other things, which I really want to do.
My next book will be the second offering of the Conclave series.
Thanks for all your support, and I hope you enjoy my writing. I simply wanted to put that rumor to rest.
