Kia ora tatou
Gary Chapman lists five languages of love. One of them is 'gifts', and this time of the year is hard for me. I am in the somewhat difficult position of having a number of family members who show their love through giving and receiving gifts. Try as I might, I can't seem to intuit or work out what people might like, and since I have two left thumbs, the prospect of neatly wrapping even a perfectlysymetrical cuboid object like a book fills me with horror.

Chapter 35 seemed 'bitsy', and I kept losing enthusiasm for the writing. Eventually I accepted that the story had reached the point where lotsa stuff needed to be described briefly to keep the narrative coherent, and simply got on with it. Turned out okay, and Ch36 will be in the queue early next week.

Back from visiting grandkids in Western Australia. Jetlagged, but the grass doesn't care, and neither does the Mynah that took advantage of our absence to nest in the caliphont for the ensuite. A sad business! Describing a threesome is challenging since it is hard to untangle exactly who is doing exactly what to exactly whom, but Ch34 three quarters complete

Many New Zealanders now have children and grandchildren in Australia (sometimes known to those remaining as 'the West Island'). I am visiting my lot in Perth, and have been struck by the comparative wealth of the area. Some years ago, our late Prime Minister predicted that New Zealand would become a theme park, and Australia a quarry. He had it right!
Anyhoo, I am installed in my 4yr old granddaughter's room. No snakes, but Unicorns are a worry! Grandfatherly duties occupy lotsa time, but Ch33 half finished.

People keep dying. I have reached the age and stage where lots of my friends are geriatric and frail, and it seems that lately, someone carks it every week. I'll be 80 in less than a week and fly to Australia to visit my grandkids if I don't fall off my perch in the meantime. I hope to post Ch32 before I pack.
