Whilst reading the stories in the Diane Destry account, I saw that the response to this story was less than satisfying. Of course, I started this story only a few months before my wife passed with advanced cancer and I had to assume sole caretaking for my handicapped daughter. The lack of response to this story surprised me because the premise was quite promising in my point of view. In the period of 2019 - 2020 I spent most of my writing time updating 250 unfinished stories across 18 pen names. I have most of this story outlined on paper but have not attempted to continue it due to the lack of response. Now that I am working on the Diane Destry account I will continue it in the hope that it might attract additional interest. Look for chapter 3 in the near future.
One of the complexities of this story is the structure. I believe I made a mistake in submitting the first part of the story as chapter one. It should have probably been a Prologue. One reader advised me that I should have made it with "Hook" in the first chapter to get readers interested in the story. That reader was so right. I am not going to submit my chapter two because it just continues that same path down a boring descriptive background. I made a similar mistake in "The Taxi Driver Task Force" with putting in boring criminal reports up front and losing readers before the story had actually started. Both are good lessons and I will correct them before continuing along that same path. I think the Fuhrer's Seed is a good story line and the words will flow easily. The problem is to organize it in such a way that it will draw readers to it rather than turn them off with uninteresting background. I will resubmit this chapter one as a prologue after further editing and at the same time submit the chapter one that has a "hook" to gain reader interest. My thanks to the reader that sent me that valuable piece of advice.
The Taxi Driver Killer has 16 chapters submitted with 8 more to go. Not much interest in this one because I got bogged down in criminal reports, etc. The real thing can be boring sometimes. Hopefully the last 8 chapters will be a little more exciting. The Little Orphan Girl story will only have 2 more chapters. and the same with the Sea Witch story. Just submitted a new story called "The Fuhrer's Seed" that is intended to be about a 24 chapter story. Might be extended to 36 chapters if readers show interest. Thank you
There will be several new stories added to this account shortly but there are no "yellow Stripe" stories as of this date.
My last two blogs were related to this story which has top priority in my writing efforts. You might think that is odd because I only have 3 stories listed. I should explain that I am a solitary writer centered around the original writer known as "Harry Lime" and have 17 pen name accounts under the SOL system of free stories for all readers. My pen name here of Diane Destry is a recent addition to the Harry Lime line-up. I actually have over 800 stories submitted with some of them of novella or novel length. This story about a Serial Killer is entirely fictional and it started from my watching a German production of a Serial Killer and some of the ingredients of his motivations and evil actions. When I write as a female author persona, I do my best to think like a woman and usually my lead characters are strong-willed females with a varied background. The lead character in this story is "Trish Cavanaugh" a police detective in San Francisco that is both flawed and sometimes politically incorrect and insensitive to people's feelings. Sex plays a part in this story on two levels, First, there is the fact that the story is about a Serial Killer that rapes and murders females. That aspect alone probably causes some readers, who aren't really readers to dish out a "1" grade just to screw the pooch with grade assignment. On the secondary level, the sex in the story is related to the main character with her somewhat loose moral character and her teenaged adopted daughter. Other characters engage in carnal activities but it is incidental and not essential to the storyline. There is no actual incest, rape or beastality in the main story. The actions of the killer are part of the story because that is the focus of the action. I have noticed that while approximately 2 out of 3 voters have scored this story in the "7 to 10 range", the fact that 5 voters scored it a "1" have dragged the story down into a 5 plus range. I suspect that some of that unfortunate circumstance was due to my presumption in using a different writing style and to include some boring reports of a confusing nature into the mix. The initial chapters are not easy reading and I apologize for that necessity. The later chapters will improve in readability as time goes on. This story will have 90 chapters in total and should end by the first week of January 2019. I estimate the total pages of content to be about 380 pages. I urge readers to comment on errors discovered for my follow-up edit and make suggestions on reducing confusion in the writing style. Thank you.
