The Taxi Driver Killer Task Force

As I indicated on 8 Oct when I started this story, it would be done in an unusual writing style. I have had several comments from readers about the writing style and I do see similarities to a few of my earlier stories. One reader from UK reminded me that it worked for Samuel Pepys 1633 - 1703 who wrote in a similar style quite a long while ago. I have noticed that a lot of the film noir styles were journalistic in either the first or second person and seldom in the third person. I a way, I suspect it is because I seldom plan anything and just put the words down as they come into my stream of consciousness. The other aspect of the story is that I had intended it to be on a day by day flow of words. Unfortunately, I had to include certain background data because I pick up this story at a point about a year after the task force is founded and about 3 years after the serial killer started his blood lust spree. I had a lot of experience in filling out reports of this nature connecting point A to point B or entering data about forensics or interrogation reports. I hated it. Now I have got myself in a trap of doing catch up with the reporting so I can do the narrative that I love so much. My script writing truly sucks but I do the best I can. I do a lot better with historical rather than contemporary dialogue. One of unexpected aspects was the current day "dog eat dog" battle going on in the Traditional Taxi transport services and the internet/smart phone "Uber" and "Lyft" style transport methods. There are a lot of side issues and unintended consequences of the conflict that are global in nature and involve billions of dollars and peoples lives. It is a side issue but most intriguing. I must admit that I am a Harry Lime protegee but my stories are primarily from a feminine viewpoint and I try my best to be well-behaved but necessarily violent and somewhat naughty when describing the hunt for a sex-crazed serial killer. Hope you enjoy the story and maybe start forming your suspicions about the identity of the real killer.

Apologies for delay in chapter 5. I underestimated the time needed to put together 13 case files for the victims already attributed to the Taxi Driver killer. I am trying to keep each chapter to about 2,000 words for reader comfort zone. Decided to do the victim sheets in 3 chapters with chapter 5, 6, and 7. Then the "Profile Report" will be in chapter 8. Hope readers stick with this story. It will be a total of 90 chapters with about 150k words total. I abbreviated the individual reports but can't eliminate too much without losing the scope of the investigation. I have also decided to make individual interrogations as a separate chapter for matching up witnesses or suspects with a cross reference alpha list of interrogation reports. Each major article of forensic evidence will be listed on a separate list that will reference the chapter it is discussed at length and that should save readers time if they want to go back and look at that for clues to the killer.

This first story by Diane Destry incorporates some of the elements of "time shifting" in a different sense with a genetic disorder that causes age misperception. It is factual in the sense that it does exist and this fictional character is a good example of the strains on personal relationships. Thanks for the helpful comments by several readers and the encouragement to finish it as quickly as possible. I expect it to be about 24K words and I will finish it within the next 30 days.
