I've just read Jay Cantrell's most recent blog and realized I am not alone. He too has hit a brick wall of de-motivation. (Is there such a word? Probably not.) I've got a couple of stories in various stages of development and no clear idea of where I want to go with them. I've been spending my time reading other's stories to try and find some inspiration for my own. After 76 postings, finding a new angle isn't easy and that's where I'm at. I don't want to become a schlock romance writer, so somewhere along the line, I have to find a new path. All ideas, however off-the-wall will be considered. In the meantime, I'll keep plugging along. I have a sequel to The Contractor with the working title "Lies, Damn Lies, and DNA" about a third done, a similar amount for a sequel to "Life on Another Planet", a post Civil War western that takes place in Southern Alberta, A 1800 era British Navy story titled "Gascoigne", a murder mystery titled "Sunset at the Sunrise Motel", and a couple of others that have no working title as yet. Is not for a lack of opportunity, but here I sit, up to my knees in mud, stuck in place.

I just realized I've passed my first decade as an amateur writer. It's been a great pleasure to see the positive feedback I've received and it's kept me going. I must admit, after posting almost 80 stories, I've run thin on ideas, but that doesn't mean I don't have a few concepts in the works. Thanks to all of you who have written to comment (criticize or compliment)and have voted to keep me encouraged to continue.
Cheers,

Thanks to some keen-eyed readers, six of my stories were stolen and published on Amazon yesterday by some character named Ronald Trumph. His pen name makes perfect sense when you think about it. Now I have to go through the laborious process of getting them kicked off the site. This guy has a lot of balls to think no one will notice when he doesn't even attempt to change the titles.
I've have made a multitude of fixes for various errors in this story. I'd like to thank Gordon Johnson and DaveT for their input. Gordon's eagle eye and Dave's technical knowledge have been invaluable.
I may have boxed myself into a corner, but I have already begun work on a sequel to this story. Where it will go and how it will get there are still under consideration. After all, LOAP was started with a different title and plot, then scrapped and started again. I hope I can find a path to a good read for my loyal fans.

Well, the jury is back and the outcome is very rewarding. This was not an easy story to write and it took some time and discussion before an ending was decided upon. I admit I'm surprised at how good the score was and I'm grateful for all those people who voted, regardless of the score they selected. I've had a number of calls for a sequel and I'm seriously considering it. It won't be any easier to write than the original, so don't expect it to show up any time soon.
Thanks again, it makes all the effort worthwhile.
Cheers,
Coaster2 (Steve)
