Oh boy!
King vs Queen is live! This was my favorite Chapter of The Coup to write.
If you have not read it, I suggest reading it now, as I plan to spoil the Chapter.
In the actual myth, based on Homer, and other sources, Zeus wakes up with the help of Athena and the Hecatoncheire and lays waste to his enemies and barely breaks a sweat. While I am sure that particular narrative was compelling, I felt it was lacking. Even gods must have limits and tire or else Athena and Hera's plan would never work.
In series like Hades, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Blood of Zeus, and Percy Jackson, Hera is considered formidable, but always second to Zeus, and she cannot/does not turn on him for fear, need to keep Olympus whole, and so on. I like the idea that this Coup was the straw that broke the camels back and she struck Zeus. Domestic violence implications aside, these are warring gods. Hera should be seen as powerful and formidable. To have her stand her ground to Zeus was important to me. Some other retellings where she just drinks or hand waves his behavior made her feel like she never wanted to lash out at Zeus and supplicated herself. To have her fight back was important to me, and while the conclusion is not one some/most might not want, I would like to remind everyone that the story of Olympus is not over.

I am glad everyone is enjoying The Coup. After next week's chapter, there will be be a sixish weeks hiatus, so that my surprise Halloween story may be released. However, I like to think I saved the best chapter before the break. Chapter 19 is titled King vs Queen, and for those enjoying the narrative, it is exactly the sort of chapter you think it is. After nine stories, after their marriage, some infidelity, and now an insurrection, Zeus and Hera will do battle for the Fate of Mount Olympus.
I hope everyone in my readership enjoys this Chapter. I worked hard on the passages, and I believe it is one of my best works yet.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your patience. I have chapters of The Coup scheduled DEEP into November. However! We will be taking a hiatus for the back half of September and the entirety of October as I will be posting a surprise story I have been working on this year. I hope you all enjoy it.
I have some other surprises as well as a Miscellaneous Myth for January/February, and by March of next year, we will be entering into the Era of Man.
Thank you everyone who is sticking by me and reading these. At this point, I know this is not easy given the narrative is long. I hope that the stories I am telling are at least worth your time to read. I should have a chapter per week until next July.
That is hoping I stay on my writing quotas, but real life responsibilities do keep me from writing as much as I want, such as family life, friends, losing friends, therapy, so on and so forth, but I do try to update regularly, so I am worth the time you all give me. Genuinely, thank you for that.
