I was reading through the nominees for the Clitorides awards - some amazing reading, if you haven't looked - but was absolutely gobsmacked to discover someone had nominated "It's not the size that counts".
I don't imagine I'll get into the finalists, but it's an enormous honour just to be nominated. To whoever thought my story worth nominating - Thank you! And to everyone else - go read the nominees. They're amazing.
We are up to chapter 6 now. I'll post 7 sometime on the weekend. Hope everyone is enjoying it! Send me a note and let me know, would you?
Chapter 3 is now up! I'll likely post chapter 4 on Monday.
To all those who responded to my post about my little experiment, thanks. I don't intend to stop writing because of negative feedback or lack of it - in the end I write because it makes me happy. I just find it frustrating that often the stories with the best scores and the highest readership contain violence, non-consensual acts, incest, and other themes I find completely abhorrent.
Why aren't there more true romantics in the world? I feel like the world would be a better place if there were.
So I did an experiment - I posted a story under a different pen name, to test the theory that stories that include rape, non-con, and mind control get more view than romance.
Sadly, my theory is correct. I wrote a story in about 30 minutes. It's terrible. I didn't even spell-check it, and I put no thought into the plot. And despite getting a lower score, it got twice the views and three times the votes as "It's not the size that counts", which is a story I've put a ton of effort into, had it edited by authors who I think are fabulous, and meticulously planned.
/sigh
Apparently if you want people to read your work on this site, it's best to write rape scenes.
I hope everyone enjoys chapter 2 of 'Its not the size that counts'. Chapter 3 will be released probably Friday or Saturday this week. Please keep the feedback coming!
