I won't get too deep into melancholy, but I was pretty much shattered by the news of the passing of literary great Jerry Pournelle. A literary giant whose influence will last well beyond his passing, with his texts being revered by some in the military as teaching tools for young officers. I read the covers off Prince of Mercenaries, Go Tell the Spartans, West of Honor... Anyhow. A part of my childhood died today. The world is a sadder place for not having Jerry in it. RIP grand master.
My next story has been submitted. It's a bit dark and kinda has some cruel moments. Not a happy go lucky tale at all. The muse led me down a darker road than I was happy with, but hey. Sometimes you have to go where the story takes you. This will be 2, maybe 3 parts. For those kinky enough, I hope you enjoy it.

Some thoughts about this world. This is not a friendly nice happy place. Things are rough, and Men like the Magister are needed to keep things in place. To a great degree might makes right and powerful men and women can, to a great degree do as they please without much interference as long as things are kept quiet. Magic is present, but rare. Maybe 1 in 100 people have any skill with it at all, and most of those such as hedge witches often are village healers and provide elemental based services such as a keep cold spell mention in this chapter. Powerful mages and even battle mages are rare indeed, with maybe 1 in 1000 people being able to complete the training. Think elite level Army Special Forces levels of training. Other races often have higher magical aptitudes, but often in narrow fields of magic. Anyhow, enough rambling. I hope you enjoy Chapter 4 of The Magister.

The Magister is posting here now. I lost access to my account on Lit, and am back writing after a significant hiatus. Trying to get back into the swing of things after 5 years. The first three chapters have been given a going over from their original form, mainly just a tidy up. Chapter 4 is well in progress. Be patient with me.
