It's a little late, but ...

Chapter 12 of Victory Tour has been submitted for posting.

This was a weird week. I usually get things in the queue by Wednesday or Thursday, but both were extremely busy for me this week.

Then Friday was a road football game that may have been the game of the week as far as this state was concerned — two reigning state champs separated by maybe 45 miles, which is an extremely short distance in this part of the world. I'm still a little foggy after making it through that.

Anywho, enjoy.

Chapter 2 of Victory Tour has been posted. More high school hijinx and some rather unfortunate fallout. Here's hoping Gary survives.

OK, I'm back

I've started posting Victory Tour, the sequel to Best Summer Ever. I strongly recommend reading BSE and the alternate ending. That will help understand several references that will be made.

I've written more than 400K words, already longer than BSE, that I've been posting on Patreon. I'm right at 40 percent through my story outline, which covers from the start of school in mid-August through the end of the fall semester in mid-December.

Chapters will cover one day in the life of Gary Robinson and the gang from BSE. This is different from how I post on Patreon, where I'll write a part with 3,000 words or more and post after editing. The first chapter contains six parts and more than 16,000 words, but there's a lot of scene-setting and recapping. Most chapters will have two or three parts. Some will have more and a couple only have one.

Since I'm 50 days into the story (118 parts on Patreon), posting a chapter a week should keep me from catching up to where I am. I mean, we're talking about almost a year's worth of posts before that becomes an issue.

The plan is to post on Saturdays, but that could change based on my schedule in real life.

This story covers a broader scope than BSE and introduces a lot of new characters. Some will be more important than others. The main thing is Gary has even more females vying for his attention as he juggles playing football with school and maintaining established relationships. Let's see how he handles things.

A quick progress report

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I am working on the sequel to Best Summer Ever and have posted almost 300K words on Patreon. My outline covers about 19 weeks and I'm just now getting to the end of the sixth week, so not even a third of the way done.

Writing has been slowed because I moved 200 miles and started a new job in August 2021. Instead of knocking out 3,000 words per day like I did with BSE, I'm lucky to do that in a week with the sequel. It didn't help that computer problems this past summer occurred just as I had more free time. Since the school year started in August, I have maybe three days a week to spend on the project and it seems like I need at least one to recover from work.

I hope to begin posting on SOL as soon as possible, but setting a target date is a sure way to disappoint everyone. Just be patient. It will get here eventually.

What might have been

Call me a perverse bastard, but I just couldn't resist writing an alternate ending to Best Summer Ever for those who thought Gary had things too easy. I'm sure there were a few out there. So, for anyone who kept waiting for him to take a fall, here you go.

Think of this as the Bizarro World version of the story. It was all a dream. Hey, it worked for Bobby Ewing.

This would have been the way to end it had I not wanted to write a sequel. I guess it's a good thing for Gary that I picture him as steadfastly heterosexual and intend to allow him to have more adventures.
