I have just completed a new story and have sent it off for thorough editing. The sad truth is that even with the best editor, I have a way of leaving errors in the story. Quick early eyes to catch errors are always appreciated.
This story is intimately connected to the Second Jake Thread. I really doubt it will make much sense if you don't have Jake #2 under your belt.
This is NOT a stroke story. There is some sex in it but only because the sex belongs there...
I know I write for a relatively small audience but if you like the characters, you will get another small bit of Jake, Joy, Jun, and Abbey.
Amazing what we both - me and my very vigilant editor - missed the first ten or so read through's. I re-read and re-edited both, Gang Aft Agley and A Package Deal in the past week. And before that I recently did the same with The Whale and just before that I re-edited Jake #1. I found mistakes in each one. It's just frustrating. When will they be error free?
Yes that is the actual Appeal value on Jake's Thread #1 tonight. With 44 TPA votes it is listed on the site with an 8.8.8.
Of the 44 votes, 19 were 10's and another 13 were 9's. So that is 32 out of the total of 44. One guy clearly didn't like it and gave it a 3. There were no 4's or 5's, one 6 and one 7. Hey everyone has a right to not like something. But in math there is the concept of an out-lier. There is something wrong with a scoring system that equates 8.977272727 with 8.0. And there is something wrong when we can't identify an out-lier for what is it.
It's not that the TPA means that much to people. I gather you can't even sort by it... but it is a bit of a irritant to see these numbers that are supposed to mean something and really do not reflect reality. For what it's worth the P=8.886363636 and that is bad enough... but the A is just confounding.
There are multiple women in my stories that deserve their own voice, but I am not sure I can give them the voice they deserve. I am not interested in writing anything else for now. While the ratings for the stories has been pretty positive, I have received very little feedback on the stories I have posted. What I have received, while very positive, hasn't been the type of feedback that tells me what people are looking for in my stories; what worked for them and what didn't work. Lastly, I have yet to find a female editor. I think I really need one.
I have submitted the entire second part of the story. As usual there are lots of places that can branch out for other stories. These are not contained in a bubble and I leave people with lives yet to live.
