Thanks for the catch on the spelling mistakes. I've fixed them with a little editing. Hopefully my fixes will make sense.
I'd like to thank everyone who gave me feedback on both my recent rant and Chapter 15 of Game World. You support is greatly appreciated and for those who wanted more, I've juest posted Chapter 16. I hope you enjoy it.
To those who mentioned typos, yes I appreciate being informed about them. I will fix anything that is picked up by readers that was missed by me and my editor but I can't guarantee that it will be instantaneous. I found with my first story on SOL I was spending more time correcting typos than I was writing and I had to put a stop to it so that I could finish the story. I still need to go back and finish editing it. Still I do want readers to point out any errors that they find.
As for putting dates on each chapter so people can keep track of how much time Charles has been on Game World, well I won't be doing that. I have included time references in the narrative and dialogue from time to time so people now how long Charles has been there and how long he has left. Currently Charles has been on Game World for a little over two months which leaves me a hell of a number of chapters to write.
Again thank-you for your feedback and support.
I'm disappointed; not with the readers but with SOL's quirky scoring system. I wrote and posted Friday what I considered to be one of the best chapters in Game World and from the reaction of most of the readers, it was a hit. People scored that chapter high and it drove up my '10's' until they were the dominant number in my scoring. Unfortunately, that enthusiastic response actually drove my overall score down. I just couldn't believe it when I saw it happen and I still can't believe it.
The message I got was that I shouldn't be trying for the best because by doing that I'd get penalized. I know it doesn't make sense but that's the impression I got.
I've ranted now and I'll let it go. I know scoring is arbitrary at the best of times, but seeing such a positive response from the readers go to waste just pissed me off. Still tomorrow is another day and I'll be posting another chapter for your enjoyment.
Again I thank everyone for their support. I know people score on how they feel after reading what has been presented to them and to their own likes. I do the same. I hope you continue to enjoy Game World and I can assure you that it will be around for a while. Charles still has most of a year to get through and I plan on having him get into a lot of trouble and quite a few adventures.
Thanks for hearing me out.
First off I'd like to thank everyone who is reading Game World and who've scored me and sent me feedback. I've appreciated the response.
Now when I started this story the intention was to have fun with the classical, stereotypical hero who is big, brawny, but not stupid and who gets all the girls that everyone loves so much on SOL and out their in television land and at the movies. As for the Alternate Earth managers of Game World, the truth is they're not very bright and they're not very motivated. They've got a program and they're sticking to it no matter what, whether it's imaginative or not; something similar to most of the programming coming out of Hollywood. If it worked the first time, it should work again. Will they learn from their mistakes with Charles and his expanding party? Hopefully yes, although that could spell trouble for Charles.
As for the Outworlders that Charles has run into so far, they're the cannon fodder of Game World who are motivated by the desire to hack and slash and get drunk afterwards and if they haven't killed all the women, get laid. There are others out there and you'll eventually meet some of them. How in depth will I get with them? That's hard to say. Charles has a year to survive on the planet and so far he hasn't stayed in one place very long, which limits the development of the supporting cast.
As for everyone impatiently waiting for more chapters, they're coming. I'm currently writing Chapter Twenty which is a month later in the storyline than what has been posted. I have to review the other chapters now that they're back from the editor before posting them. Currently three chapters a week is my limit.
Again I'm grateful for the response and I hope you will continue reading. And to all the Whovians out there, no I will not be adding any Daleks or Cybermen. Thanks.
How in the world did I miss that one. Obviously I typed one thing and read another and when I proofed it I kept missing it. Well that is why I appreciate feedback from the readers. I've reposted Chapter Two with the correction of 'canines' instead of 'incisors'. I'm glad you're enjoying the story and I thank you again for your comments.
