As promised I have reposted Apprentice Smith. This is a complete rewrite with a more comprehensive ending.
There will be no sequel and probably no further attempts at this genre.
I have posted the entire story in one go and so will not know of any low scores for another poor ending.
As many already know, after much criticism over chapter length and a poor ending, I decided to remove the story.
That prompted a great deal more comments, the vast majority of which were positive. Because of these, I decided to rework the story into a longer piece, with, hopefully, an improved ending.
I hope to post this within the next week.

First let me thank all of you who took the time to comment on the removal of my story.
It confirmed that for most, the ending was unsatisfactory at best.
Given how many have asked me to reinstate it, I have decided to do a rewrite with a, hopefully, better ending. I hope to have it done in a couple of weeks.
It will still be a short story, not a book, and I doubt that there will be any sequel.

As some of you may have noticed, I have removed Apprentice Smith.
I thought that I would be able to write a decent story in this genre. Turns out, I was okay with the start but not the finish. I had numerous complaints and the score plummeted.
I may revisit the story, but it won't be anytime soon.
