Thank you all that have taken the time to explain, it really is appreciated.
To recap: Until recently all college sports were deemed to be amateur, so no athlete was allowed to benefit. (it was fine for everyone else to reap millions)
Recently athletes can benefit from their image rights.
Some of you mention a free education and I can see where you're coming from, but it seems that the same applies to students NOT on an athletic scholarship. (Nor does it apply to no athletic activities such as Art or English)
BTW. A few have mentioned 'Stupid Boy' which I have read. It was this and others that prompted my questions.
Cheers
As an Englishman reading many of the stories here, I regularly come across tales of the NCAA banning athletes from earning anything from their abilities.
Is this actually true? If so, it seems the most unamerican thing I've heard and why do the athletes put up with it?
Please enlighten my ignorance.
I just posted a very short story. The scoring is terrible, easily the worst out of everything I've written. I never expected it to be one of my better scores, but it really is an ouch.
Please, if you score it or have scored it, however low, can you comment on why, and don't hold back.
Hi,
After a comment that all the links to my pictures were broken in this story, I have corrected that.
There has also been some minor updates with the text.
I have reposted 'A New Life' with slight amendments but now with the correct pictures available.
Cheers
