This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...The humans' jokes and laughter were interrupted by a squalling three-quarters of a ton of fury as it launched itself toward the cage atop the crawler. The saber tooth was accustomed to things either collapsing or trying to move away when he attacked, but the only response from the monster was that it stopped.
The cat, now atop the crawler's cage, raked his giant claws across something that he had never encountered before. Instead of his prey screaming with its last breath as warm blood covered the cat's claws and feet, there was only a muted sound as his claws left a slight smear of claw material across the metal.
Jasmine had turned the joystick loose and grabbed her rifle, even as her husband snatched his up. "Wait," he called out now that he realized there was no danger to anyone, and he certainly did not want to have to begin processing a hide just now. "Let's not kill him today." Turning to the wolves who had come to their feet. "Easy you two. It can't hurt us and this is what we came to see."
The wolves cast a glance toward Morales, then settled, albeit a bit uneasy. For a moment, the humans sat looking up at the beast as he stared down at them. Then, as if the truce were over, the cat yowled a challenge and attacked the metal again.
Morales and Jasmine exchanged glances, and the two began to chuckle before breaking out in full-blown belly laughs, joined an instant later by Jeff, then finally by the women. Oddly enough, neither Selina nor Adrienné had said anything after their initial screams.
By then, the huge pussy cat was beside himself with fury and was raking his claws across the bars even more frantically in his haste to get at the humans inside the cage, but of course, he did little more than leave a few more slight smears from his claws...

...The lights went out, and the red emergency lighting activated throughout the ship. The First Officer had already instructed the AI to maintain power to the frigate's weaponry and the Bridge's sensors. He wasn't worried about sounds in space - there were none - but he was worried that the onboard electronics and sensors would be detectable.
"Sir, the unknown ship has gone to active scanning."
"Steady as she goes, Helm. Continue to maintain your position on the opposite side of the asteroid from the unknown vessel, but continue to use as little thrust as you can manage while doing it, and make the thruster pulses as random as possible."
"Maintain opposite side of the asteroid. Minimal thrust and random pulses," Helm responded, his voice all business and devoid of emotion.
The Navigator dropped something with a clatter, and everyone jumped before looking sheepish - all except the First Officer and the Captain that is - both of whom did not flinch or react.
"Well done, Helm," First complimented a few moments later as the Helmsman kept their ship directly opposite the mystery ship as it passed by, now only three and a half light seconds away. "They are obviously scanning the asteroid, but their course has not altered. Their scanner operators may just be bored and curious, so they decided to check out the largest boulder around."
"Sir?" Science said. "According to my database, that is a Dhisoi ship, Elois Class, equivalent to our Fulton Class destroyer. She is seventy-five meters longer than our frigate, has the latest armor and an extra thickness of it if the database is correct. Also, she has six more weapon arrays than we do. Sir, no wonder none of the Alliance ships could stand against the pirates."...

..."First," the Chief's voice now dead serious, "I would not advise pushing her past listed limits until we get the ship back to the Repair Facility and have a full rebuild to the impulse engines."
"I read you loud and clear, Chief."
"If you were hoping to see the inside of an impulse engine, that," he said while motioning to the inner armored housing, "is as far as we dare go. I've replaced much of the electronics that balance the Möbius strips. I do not dare crack the inner case to reveal the strips themselves. As I said, that can only be done at a full Repair Facility. Now, go somewhere and pace or something while we put the old gal back together."
The First Officer was halfway back to the bridge when the tone for Battle Stations sounded, followed a second later with the AI's voice declaring the same thing. The First Officer was in full stride before the second tone had even begun to sound.
As he rounded a corner running full out, a female tech going in the opposite direction slammed herself flat against the bulkhead to let the First Officer charge past before returning to her own hurried course.
"Thanks," he called out over his shoulder as they both continued on their way.
"Bridge, report," the First snapped out, his lapel mike operated by the AI responding instantly...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...Late in the morning after the wedding, Tosha spent time with her sister-wives in the big Jacuzzi where, as usual after a wedding, the wives demanded to know every detail of the bride's wedding night while she soaked her delicate parts in the warm water. Tosha was hesitant because Alice, now thirteen and soon to be fourteen, and Terri, now fifteen, were there in addition to Selina, who was only seven. Since she was Security, Tosha knew practically everything about Selina and the two older girls. Indeed - she had to pass tests quarterly on the details of each person at the Retreat and more. Diana had also discussed the problem with Tosha before the wedding, encouraging her to speak freely in front of all three of the younger females.
"I used to feel the way you seem to," the Clan Queen said, "but my thinking has changed. Selina is, indeed, just seven, but… it is a very learned seven," she assured the young Security Officer - now wife number eighteen. Diana had also told Tosha privately that Alice and Terri's parents were aware of what went on in the Jacuzzi the morning after a wedding and were good with the girls being there, although Angie, their father's sister and for all practical purposes, their mother, would not be here today, since Eric and Angie had an appointment in Denver.
Regardless, when the women began to ask questions, Tosha started out with hesitation and "generic" wording so that Selina would not have to hear the intimate details of what had happened between man and wife on their wedding night and again this morning - they had not shown up for breakfast. However, Tosha didn't get very far before Selina stopped her.
"I am a child in body, but not in mind," she responded, frustrated...

..."He thinks, just as all of us do, that you are, indeed, beautiful."
"But I have my bioy - uh, you refer to them as brow ridges," the alien said as she motioned to her forehead, "and these," she added as she shifted her shoulders to emphasize her breasts. Both make me look drastically different from human women.
"Well, the brow ridges are different, but they're obviously sensitive because I have seen you and others… uh, absently caressing them from time to time. And unless I've misinterpreted my husband's expression, he finds them sexy. I can guarantee that he finds your breasts sexy. They are perfect cones with large nipples and seem to have just the right amount of jiggle and sway to please him. We've been married several years, and I have made certain that I know what he finds attractive. When he finally puts his cock in me, I am more than ready. Unfortunately, after he has me so ready, I pass out too quickly."
"I… do not know what to say. I know what an orgasm is - at least the definition of one, but I cannot imagine that happening to me - at least with a male."
"Your men should all be shot," Diana groused.
"As long as they leave me alone, I do not care what they do," the alien said with emphasis.
Adrienné shifted and looked down at herself. "I wish mine were positioned like yours. Mine get in the way sometimes."
Diana chuckled. "Yeah, mine too - sometimes, but with the way my husband reacts, I'll put up with the inconvenience to have him nurse and make over them."
"Nurse? He… sucks on them? Some of the men have tried that with me, but I hated it. My breasts are useless. The machines feed our babies; at least I am told they do. I remember little of my childhood."...
