Managing to find time and inspiration to work a little on something new(ish).

And I've learned an important rule in writing smut:

If a family pet is mentioned in Act 1, it probably needs to be involved in all sorts of carnal, perverted ways with said family in Act 2.

And Act 3.

I should have the first chapter of a sequel to "Fun With the Colte Family" up soon. "A Colte Family Vacation" (the working title) covers the further adventures of Sarah and her brother Bobby as they visit some of their cousins.

More work continues on "Playing Ball with Mom", but the next chapter's still a couple of weeks away.

As always, your feedback's appreciated. Let me know what you'd like to read, and what you like reading. I pretty much go where my muse leads me, but if I know the majority of my audience wants to read something in particular, I'll try to focus more of my efforts on those stories.

I'm working on Chapter 5 now. Chapter 5 is where some of the more extreme kinks in the story - specifically, water sports - will begin to appear, in case you haven't been checking out the story codes closely. Just a friendly warning (or reminder!) in case that's something you might or might not particularly enjoy.

In thinking about it, one of the reasons I think I've stalled out - to a degree, anyway - on some of my current in-progress stories is because they're on a familiar path. They're smutty stories with a somewhat clichéd trajectory - start with a normal cast of characters, and follow their slow and gloriously filthy descent downward into a depraved (and usually incestuous) life of perverted bliss.

Nothing wrong with that. I really like those sorts of stories. I wouldn't write them if I didn't. Most of the old Liverpool Press pocket books that inspired me to write here have the same sort of story arc.

But at times, it's kind of hard - for me, anyway - to find a way to walk through that inevitable decline of "perfectly normal" to "filthy smut" while keeping the writing interesting. The early stages can be a chore, as I really just want to skip ahead to the filthy stuff.

I've been reading a few stories lately here at the site that have inspired me. Not that they're the works of Hemingway, but they're really good, and really hot. And they just jump straight into the dirty action right from the first paragraph. No build-up, no fall from grace. Straight to the good stuff, and the reader isn't watching the world evolve along with the characters - rather, the reader is dropped into a fully-developed world. The first times, the "wait, we shouldn't be doing this moments" - they've already happened to the characters before the story even begins.

I'm writing two multi-chapter serials now in this vein. It's kind of liberating. There's no need to develop old familiar themes and old tropes in new ways. I'm getting to write different things, and that's helping me get my mojo back.

And I think after I get them firmly underway, I'll be able to circle back to the older stories with a fresh perspective. And with the enthusiasm that they deserve.

The delays. The setbacks. The writing itself, and the length of the new chapters.

All too damn long.

Suffice to say this year has not gone as planned. I'm still working on "Listening to Jack" and "Playing Ball With Mom", but both have turned into these unwieldy, sprawling, huge monsters that never seem to end. It's difficult working on them, and particularly difficult to try and edit them, so I can attempt to get them back under control. But they're both something of a mess right now, and until I pare them back to something I'm happy with, I can't update them. So my apologies for the continuing delays on both stories.

In the meantime, I've been trying to write a sequel of sorts to "Fun with the Colte Family". I don't know if there's necessarily a demand for a sequel, but I'm just trying to write something that's shorter, quicker to write and edit ... and so I'm actually posting new chapters of an actual story. And hopefully that breaks me out of the rut I've been with the other stories.
