I guess you could call this an experiment. I've been to a few nudist beaches, but nothing like the one I've written about here. I got to wondering how my standard characters would react to such a situation, and here's the result.
If you've read much of my other stuff, particularly "Teachable Moment" and the "Ohana" stories, you'll know that I'm as much concerned about how the characters relate to each other emotionally as I am about how they relate sexually. So if you find me taking my time getting to the juicy parts, please be patient. They'll get there, never fear. But when they do, I think you'll appreciate their experiences a little more.
I see this story going on for at least seven chapters, but I don't know how I'll end it yet.
I originally thought about submitting this story for the "Contest Contest" but decided not to, for three reasons. First, I wanted to post the story on other sites right away, and I would not have been able to if the story had been a winner. Second, I wanted to share it with everybody, both free and Premier members alike. I didn't really need the prize money, anyway, and if it helped allow some more deserving writer to win it, so much the better. And lastly, I write these stories for my own satisfaction, and tell them the way I want to tell them. I've found that if write a story for a contest, I'll end up introducing elements to raise the "vote count" even though they really didn't fit into the story.
But I can't help but wonder how the story would have ranked in the contest. So I'm making a special request to those who voted on the other stories, to let me know where this story might have ranked in their choices.
And, as I said in the end note, I'm always open to suggestions, praise, and criticism from my readers. You guys (and maybe gals) rock!
This is a bit different from what I usually write. I'd read Athalia's "Daughters of Priapus" and complimented her on it, and she challenged me to write a similar story, about an older person rediscovering sexuality. I think she meant "an older male" person, but I thought it would be more fun this way. And it allowed me to finish a story I'd written a long time ago.
As I said in the postscript, half of this story is true. Only the names, locales, and a few other identifying facts have been changed. This is as much to protect "Lynette's" privacy as mine, because I'm told that she's now a fairly high-profile religious figure in her circles. I should add that I haven't seen her in over thirty years. The fictional part of the story was spurred by Athalia's challenge, and represents my idea of how the story might have turned out, if I only had the opportunity to see Lynette again. It starts with the phrase "My own path led me to Europe..."
I hope you enjoy the story, and forgive me if it seems too slow to develop. (I have added a "slow" label to the story codes to warn readers.) I could have cut a bit from the first part, but that would have lessened the dramatic impact of the second half, I think.
I have to give Athalia a little indirect credit for this. As you may know, I edited her story "Mrs. Swinson's Summer Camp." On reading it, I found myself thinking about what one of these girls might turn out to be like when she grew up ... smart, talented, oversexed, and totally un-selfconscious in satisfying her needs. The Wood Nymph was the result. Then I had to come up with a character that complemented her. That was harder. But I think that Gavin/Bigfoot is the sort of guy she deserves.
Friday the Thirteenth! I'd better be careful today.
A couple of things to talk about. First, I posted chapter 3 of "The Tribe." I hope you like it. It's a first for me, because I should really credit the lovely Athalia as co-writer.
We frequently trade stories back and forth, and act as each other's editor. When I sent her Chapter 3, she asked if I minded if she did a re-write, doing this one from Taffy's point of view instead of Todd's. I was intrigued by this suggestion, and told her to go ahead. She used the "bones" of my story, but telling it from the woman's point of view gave it a new dimension.
Authors usually don't feel good about letting another author use their characters, just like fathers don't like anybody dating their daughters. But I'm happy to say that it worked out in this case. I think she really "got" the characters, and was able to give them personality traits that I didn't even know they had.
Which brings me to topic number two. I've just instituted a new series called "The Ladies Club" and have written a few more of them in the days to come. But Athalia wanted to try her hand at one of those, too. So I'm going to post these stories as separate entities, rather than as chapters of a single story, so that she can get her proper writing credit for them. If it works out, I can see "Ladies Club" being another series like the "Naked in School" series, with different authors contributing to it. If you'd like to participate in that, please email me. (I'd particularly like to get contributions from female writers ... it is "The Ladies Club," after all!)
