Writing Update and News

I was excited to be nominated for a Clitoride this year, but didn't really expect to win. There were too many good stories this year, so congrats to bluedragon for taking the Clitoride for Medium Story of the Year honors with Amber's Wedding.

I couldn't be happier with how well The Summer I Grew Up was received. Thanks for all the kind words sent to let me know what you thought. I know it's a different kind of coming of age story. The ebook version has the dedication, "This book is about the first three rules of adulthood. You're not special. Life isn't fair. Pleasure isn't love. Here's to hoping not everyone will have to learn them the hard way."

I've been busy behind the scenes getting my websites tuned up for a renewed push on the publishing front. You can search for Cotton Nightie Press to see what I've been up to. The big changes are better mobile browsing experience and a newly reformatted free stories section.

I've been writing for about five years now and have found that sharing free stories is the best way to promote my writing. I am primarily here on StoriesOnline.net but I also repost some stories on Wattpad and Sweek.

Now I've gotten four of my most popular free stories on my Cotton Nightie Press site as epub and mobi files, as well as plain html that works well on devices like phones and tablets. The stories are standalone and complete, just like you'd expect, but if you follow me here you've probably read them all.

All this is all to prepare for a summer launch of a new Bella Chal book I've tentatively called Relationships Passing in the Night. It features the chance encounter in an Atlanta airport bar between two executives, Charles Buckner and Chloe McClane. Both of them are successful in their own companies, but wrecked personally. And sometimes those broken pieces can fit together in unexpected ways and make beauty from ashes.

I'm about 40K words in now and am loving how the story is shaping up. It's more of a straight romance, but has some heat in the right places. I hope to be done in a few weeks and maybe ready to publish by July. I'll be looking for beta readers in June after I get the revisions back from my editor. Please Like my Cotton Nightie Press and Bella Chal pages on Facebook or follow my blog here or on Twitter for updates.

Thanks!

The Summer I Grew Up is now available

My latest story, The Summer I Grew Up, has now been posted in its entirety! I've received dozens of comments and votes so far and am so pleased with all the feedback. Thanks to the readers for letting me know how you felt about the story.

Out of all my novel-length stories, only two are reserved for Premier Members. I've done this because StoriesOnline.net remains one of the best sites to share stories and deserves our support.

Premier Membership gives you the ability to manage your personal library of stories and you'll love and powerful search capabilities to find hidden gems. My personal favorite feature is the ability to download stories as MOBI or EPUB files to read in my preferred ebook reader. The cost is as little as 19 cents per day, so if you love the stories please consider supporting this site.

The Clitorides Awards are still open for voting and I hope you'll remember my story Friends and Benefits when you vote for Medium Erotic Story of the Year!

I'm back to writing again and, as usual, hope to provide another story soon. Of course, I say that in most of my posts and rarely seem to be able to get things done when I'd hoped. Thanks again for your continued support and keep the comments coming!

The Summer I Grew Up and Clitorides Awards news

It's taken me a couple of months longer than I intended, but The Summer I Grew Up is now uploaded and will be released over the next couple of weeks. I appreciate the beta feedback and edits I got from my friends here. You helped make the story better, but any mistakes that remain are all mine.

One of the hardest parts of writing (for me) is translating the story that's in my head into the right words to carry it into your heads as I intend. Failures in the first draft led some readers to make incorrect assumptions about the age characters and other situations in the story that seemed obvious to me. Luckily, their feedback helped tune the storytelling to more accurately match what I intended.

The story is told in first-person from Stephanie's perspective, and weighs in at over 78K words across 28 chapters. I'm looking forward to your feedback and hope you enjoy the ride!

And speaking of wild rides, some of you crazy people nominated my short story Friends and Benefits for a Clitoride! I am honored just to be included in the finals for the Medium Erotic Story of the Year. Thank you all for your vote of confidence.

As a result, I've starting a sequel called Creeps and Consequences. The story follows Lauren as she starts the summer school term while Josh struggles with her independence. She is convinced she can handle college life and bristles at his protective nature. Things get tense when Lauren begins to notice a creepy guy everywhere where she goes... Hopefully I'll be posting it soon!

The Summer I Grew Up

It's hard to believe my last story post was back in April when I published Friends and Benefits. I've got a new novel-length story I'll begin posting soon called The Summer I Grew Up. It's one of those stories that started as a lark and then grew in the telling.

Stephanie Larson is a young woman on the cusp of growing up and is burning with curiosity about love, relationships, and sex. Her older brother, Joe, keeps a rotating set of what's-her-names parading through their house, but it's his best friend, Mark, that finally answers some of her questions and leaves her with a hundred more. Stephanie and her best friend, Bethany, begin an unforgettable summer adventure of love and loss. At times funny and heartbreaking, the story reveals the struggle of finding the answers to the hardest questions we can ask ourselves.

Right now the novel sits at 75K words and needs editing. I've sent off the manuscript to a couple of my volunteer editors / friends, but I'd be open to sharing it out to get more feedback and corrections if others are interested. Shoot me a line and let me know!

I just wanted to thank everyone who voted in the Halloween Contest. I really enjoyed writing The Ifrinn and hoped it would do well, but never expected it to win last night. Now I finally get to read the other stories since they are now open to all premier members and authors.
