Igwanda assumes military command with a tour de force that says much less about his fitness to do so than his impressive track record-but does say a great deal more about the immature way in which humans so often choose those who will lead them. No historian, or observer of contemporary American politics, should be surprised at the latter, which is merely a part (if a regrettable, and not very favorable, one) of the human condition.
