As promised, Enter the Darkness is now complete! I just submitted the last two chapters plus Epilogue, so it should be up by late tomorrow at the latest, if the webmaster is up to his usual standard. I want to thank all of you who have joined me on this trip down memory lane with Alexandra as she grew up and grew into her destiny. I hope to have the beginnings of the next Alexandra story up soon. Until then, enjoy the final chapters of Enter the Darkness and feel free to let me know what you think.
As for what I will be working on next, I am hopeful to have the next chapter of Future Distorted up soon. I know a lot of you are waiting for that and some of the other stuff left unfinished, so hopefully that will be next. I have been working on it, so I am hoping it won't be long. That is all for now.
I know it has been a while since I promised the imminent end of Enter the Darkness, but I promise it is coming. Chapters 18 and 19 are written . . . by hand . . . on paper. This means that it will take me some time uninterrupted at the computer before it sees the submission wizard (my handwriting is execrable and sometimes hard to decipher even for me). Since I have gotten busy at work with the beginning of the school year, time uninterrupted at the computer means weekends. Unfortunately, weekends also mean lawn care and family obligations, which negate such time. On the up side, this means that I also have had time to write (by hand . . . on paper) the Epilogue. This means the next posting will likely include Chapters 18 and 19 and the Epilogue all at once. I appreciate the patience and I hope you will think it worth the wait. Persevere yet a while longer and you will be rewarded.
I have just completed the edit to Reign of Havok, you can find details here http://jmfhildebrandt.livejournal.com/21888.html on my external blog. For those of you waiting for new posts, this is what has been capturing my time. I got in an editing groove and had to finish that. Now that it is done, I will hopefully get the next chapters of Enter the Darkness ready for posting in the next week or so. With school starting back up, I have been fairly busy of late but things should go faster now that I have Reign of Havok out of the way. So check out the link and hopefully you will enjoy yourselves with that for a bit while I get other stuff ready for you here.
A quick update on how things are progressing on Enter the Darkness. Chapter 18 is finish, I think. Unfortunately, I have, for the time being, decided to break the next few sequences up into two chapters rather than cram them all into one super-long chapter. Since that is the case, I will hold off on posting 18 until 19 is completed. I am hoping that will be soon (as in the next week or so).
As for the e-mails I have been getting regarding Future Distorted and other languishing, in progress stories, I will be getting back to them once Enter the Darkness is finished, barring any anvil-related meddling by my Muse. Just bear with me on this, EtD is almost over!
That is all for now.
As promised last time, the new Enter the Darkness chapter that I just submitted for your reading pleasure was short. The reason it took so long to write it, however, was a minor case of writer's block. I would sit in front of the computer bouncing from open project to open project, not feeling any kind of just-fucking-write-it! vibe. This chapter was short and somewhat to the point, simply being a lead-up chapter to the finale. My best guess is there are only two chapters left of EtD. I have already begun writing Chapter 18, but I won't estimate when it will be ready because I am pretty sure it will be quite a bit longer than Chapter 17. Unless, of course, I irritate those of you following this story by breaking the chapter in two. However, should I decide to do that, I will probably hold off posting 18 until 19 is finished so I don't find a mob outside my house brandishing pitchforks and torches.
As for future plans, I reiterate my intention to wrap up EtD before doing anything else, Muse-related anvils to the head notwithstanding. After EtD is wrapped up I will probably try to get back to Future Distorted, as the next chapter of that is half written. Other candidates for next posting after EtD is done are the next chapter of Anomaly of the Fates, an attempt to finish The Death of Love in Morristown (though that one is lacking inspiration, which is why it is marked inactive), and an Am'mortal story I started but have not gotten around to finishing. It all probably depends on my Muse and whether or not she feels like being helpful.
That is all for now. Look for Chapter 17 of Enter the Darkness sometime later today or very early tomorrow and as always, feel free to send constructive criticism. I greatly appreciate all the feedback I get from those of you who send it.
