On a ride along a country lane our hero meets a lady with a bonfire. It appears that she is in need of some help, in fact more than he realises. When he discovers a secret all hell lets loose, but in the end our hero gets the fair maid. there is a bit of competition though.
A The Engineer Story (10) The Engineer series is written as separate stories which are contiguous. So best to start at the beginning, but you can start with 'Susan'. This story starts with the aftermath of Dee's rape, we meet the Inspector in charge, and Susan is attracted to the police sergeant. The mystery surrounding Dee takes a step or two forward, Susan and Dee are thinking about men, and Frankie explores girls. Dee sets up Susan who retaliates, and Naomi is a very happy girl. And Susan could be the next Emma Peel.
A The Engineer Story (13) Susan goes for an audition, meets Imogen, has a fight, and makes a faux pas, then she has lunch and the faux pas comes home. She has to explain her association with Imogen's daddy to Imogen which is embarrassing, and then plays ponies. Next she has to give Helen an explanation. Lunch with Horace is productive, and later she finds Dee enjoying herself. She explains more to Cilla and then Felice says there isn't much wrong with the accounts and finally Susan takes Cilla to school and meets Imogen.
A The Engineer Story (11) George narrates a little more and then Susan decides she doesn't want to eat her supper off Frankie. Horace has a potentially killer new contraption, there is a nearly new pony, a new track and new drivers. A new girl appears, ponies find relief. A pony is bred, but Susan objects to a second and puts her skills to good use, but nevertheless there is one. And then it largely goes tits up.
A The Engineer Story (8) Another story about Susan, ponies, her developing career and, hopefully, success. This is a sort of side plot to the Engineer which I found interesting enough to pursue.
A The Engineer Story (12) It is really essential to start with Susan and work your way through because they are really chapters. They all start Susan and then Too, Three, Again, Once Again and Yet again. In this story there are problems clearing up 'The Grange' and finding where the recordings of the proceedings are. Along the way Annie isn't very helpful, George and Susan get rather closer which Jennifer doesn't find amusing, but Dee does. Susan now has a new member of her household to deal with and Frankie gets a date.
When her friend suffers at the hands of a man she and another friend seek revenge. Sort off. Actually that doesn't really describe it at all. So the easiest thing is to read it.
