Authors note: Before we begin this story, please be aware that the different English accents will not pronounce the Zulu place names correctly for those of you who use screen readers. Notably: iSimangaliso is pronounced as issie-man-ga-lissoo, and iSigodi as issie-gawh-dee. The spelling of iSigodi and iSimangaliso in the Zulu language is correct with the second letter of the name being capitalised. Some exceptions do occur like Lake Sibaya sometimes spelled Lake Sibayi. Furthermore, Lake St Lucia or Lake Saint Lucia must not be confused with the island in the Pacific Ocean called Santa Luchia. Also, the screen reader mispronounces this name. That was my experience while testing the text on screen readers for my visually impaired readers. Very important: Please don’t try to Google the pronunciation! I come out as “I-say-men-go-lie-so!” Huh?
