1: The Earl's Man by FantasyLover
This is a GREAT story! This is an alternative history that really makes you think about how different and how much better our world might be if things had happened differently than they did. It has also inspired me to work harder to complete a couple of stories I have been working on which I hope will also make people think.
2: In the Navy by Argon
When it comes to historical fiction on SOL, Argon has no equal. From his "In the Navy" series and his other stories set in the Napoleonic age, to his stories set in medieval times such as "Pelle the Collier" and "Joerg Isebrand", Argon makes you feel as if you were truly there as a witness to history, a truly amazing gift.
3: Little Brother Settles The Score by Jarvis Henry
This story is hysterical! It reminds me of when I had an old friend committed to a mental hospital as a practical joke after he had pulled a number of practical jokes on me over the years. I had warned him that I would get even with him one day, but he didn't believe me. Needless to say, he has never tried to pull another practical joke on me since then.
4: Recluse and Ghost by Dual Writer
This is an incredibly well written story! I read Recluse and Ghost when it was first written and have read it twice since then. I have gotten something new from it with each reading. The way that Dual Writer has developed his characters makes it seem almost as if you know and can relate to them as ordinary down to earth people. That takes a special talent. I've enjoyed his Florida Friends stories, but enjoyed Recluse and Ghost even more than I enjoyed Florida Friends. I'm looking forward to when he begins the sequel.
5: Six-Months Turnaround by Morgan
This is a GREAT story which I have just finished reading for the third or fourth time. I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did the first time I read it. Some of the technology mentioned is a bit dated, but that does not take away from how entertaining the story is. This is a "feel good" story at its best!
6: Washed Up by Lazlong
This is a GREAT story which combines two of my favorite genres, time travel and historical fiction. There are two other stories in this series, Wagons Ho! and Wagons Ho - The Early Years, which are just as well written. Lazlong had talked about another story in this series, but health problems apparently kept that from happening. Hopefully, his health will improve so that he can continue this series and finish writing several stories he has not been able to complete.
