It is interesting how one site will rate a story at an aggregate of 9 +, while here on SOL the identical story scores 7.0, or 6.3. I understand that there are statistical adjustments, to allow for the fact that most folks will not vote at all for (against?) a story that they do not like, and folks who really enjoy a story tend to vote in a greater percentage of cases. I even agree with the underlying rationale, if I understand it properly. Even so, the score disparity does elicit a "Hmmmm?" in me, from time to time.
Either way, I want readers to comment. Thoughtful comments of praise, or criticism, are the only "pay" writers on this site receive, and they help me improve my writing.
