storming interference

It has been a while since I last posted and I apologize for that. Unfortunately, my ability to post has been hampered by a recent storm. I thought the only component affected was the modem provided by my isp, but after the technician checked everything out and replaced the modem, I found out that the problem went further than that. It turns out that's the the storm also knocked out the network card on my computer. So, until I can replace the network card I won't be able to post anything.

For those who fancy themselves pc techs, the device manager doesn't even list anything to do with networks or internet devices. The nic is built into the main board. Every thing else is working normally. Rebooting or shutting down and booting up again makes no difference. Suggestions are welcome.

I have already looked into the cost of a replacement nic. It shouldn't be more than $10. I just don't know how long it'll take to receive the replacement. That's if I order it online. I'll have to check local stores and see if one of them carry what I need. I'm scared that the cost will be triple the online cost.

I so need to look into getting a new tower all together. Mine is getting so old.

Anyway, thought I would let you know what's been going on lately.
