Alright, I just finished the rough draft of Part 8 and discovered it isn't the end like I thought it would be. Instead, Part 9 will be... promise.
Smoothing over part 8 will take me awhile; so I'm thinking it will probably be ready for publication in another week or two.
Part 08 highlights Kat, Jared, Kristen and Jessica, while Part 09 will highlight Rachel, Kat, Megan, Jared, Kristen and Jessica.
Anyways - in case you've been hoping I'd update soon; at least you know there is light at the end of the tunnel. :-)
Alright, Part 7 is the longest yet and will post real soon, I'm sure. The outline for Part 8 is completed and I have a sneaking suspicion this final part will be even longer. The eight part tale will conclude Book One.
Alright - I'm ready to post my sixth chapter of "The Seductor."
Although Chapter 06 doesn't carry a lot of the excitement one would hope for - it does move the story forward and still allows the reader to see that Kristen is far smarter than the average chick. The chapter also touches on a very likely partnership of two very evil entities.
I can finally say with more accuracy that this book will come to an end in chapter 08. Whether there is a second book will depend on interest. I'll also state that Megan will figure heavily in the wrap and would undoubtedly prove instrumental if the saga continued onto Book Two.
By the time I finish this tale - it will be the longest story that I've ever written. I know... it pales in comparison to a lot of writers out there. But you see... I'm not those other writers out there... therefore this is a tremendous accomplishment for me.
I'm going to ramble - so bare with me. I'll be posting the fifth chapter of The Seductor either tomorrow or Friday, but before I do I'd thought you might like to know what has gone through my mind as I write this...
First - I hate the title. I hate most of my titles, and although I've written over half a megabyte (five chapters,) of this tale, I'm still lacking any thoughts to a great title.
Second - I was a little disappointed to receive only one e-mail BUT then again - I don't like piece reading a story myself, so I'd be a hypocrite if I complained too loudly.
Third - the story turned out way longer than I originally intended. If I were to critique my own work, I'd say my endings are usually my weakest part of a story - so maybe since I actually outlined this tale - and gave it a (what I think) strong ending, it's now taking forever to get there. For three straight times I said; the next chapter should wrap it up - and here I am informing everyone there will be a sixth chapter. Will that be the end? I doubt it - given this monster has taken a life of its own.
Fourth - Trying to provide ample time to four character POVs throughout this tale has been an undertaking. But let's look at them...
Jared - Doesn't know what he wants; Struggles with his power; Not necessarily the brightest bulb out there. Is smitten with Kristen; wants Kristen; loves her spirit; and finds himself falling in love with her. So, what does he do - proves his love by not taking away her free will.
Jessica - A bitch from the get go; has to deal with her stupid older brother; loves the power; and is infatuated with Kat.
Kristen - Smart; Beautiful; Strong willed; a fighter; never gives up; protective of baby sister; manipulative towards Jared; will do what it takes to survive.
Katherine - Young; beautiful; loves her older sister; has an attitude; principled; hated what Jessica did to her; wants to protect her best friend.
The problem with juggling four different characters in a story like this - is you have to be consistent or justify something new. Have I succeeded?
Read... review... be honest!
