Chapter 5

Lindsey Genette looked out across the office of the President as he came in holding a cup of steaming coffee and wearing the usual foreboding frown. She smiled her usual confidence boosting smile that made her superior smile back

She was of average height and had an attractive body with a curvy figure and full sensual breasts; Lindsey was blissfully unaware that this had got her the job of the Presidents assistant. Nevertheless she did a good job of making sure that her boss had everything he needed to have a productive and moderately enjoyable day. Long straightened blond hair in a ponytail hung down her smooth neck and touched the collar of her uniform.

As a person she had a fiery temper and hated to be looked down upon by men. This characteristic itself had cost her a few jobs after heated rows with male superiors and even one fight which she had won. While this secretary looked weak she was in fact strong and trained how to fight resulting in a very dangerous person to underestimate

As the President sat down he received a few documents on his desk from the lovely Miss Genette which did cause a fairly big sigh from him

"What's it this time?" He asked rhetorically as the front page of the first report was scanned "Ah the Texas National Guard led by ... General Gray"

The report detailed the findings that had been found at the three hamlet attacks and the conclusions so far from the investigation. The report after detailed the attacks before Miles' village. The conclusion so far read

"Despite numerous possibilities of raiders and bandits that do operate in this Texas region the most likely conclusion is that the attacks were caused by a Special Operations group. To cause this much destruction and this many casualties without any casualties of their own that we know of must have been done by a highly trained force. Time which was also a factor has been taken into consideration since the third attack took only an hour before all the population was dead and the hamlet in flames. Raider and bandits would've taken considerably longer on attacking this size of settlement" After silently read this paragraph the President shook his head distastefully and said

"Damn Chinese, I know it's them, or the Polish. Well they have gone way out of line, killing American people" He flicked open the other report and read it with an ever growing surprise. The conclusion on this one was after the attack on Miles' village and read

"From eye witness report and on-going coronary examination we have come to a widespread disagreement throughout the board. The possibility of both raiders and Spec Ops are still considered highly but this event has caused much disruption. The idea that no weapons were used in these attacks is disturbing but the concept that a non-human force is at work is frankly frightening. The board has been partially split on that something supernatural or non-human is happening. However despite this most believe this man, Miles Davidson is mentally disturbed and so eye witness testimony can be considered unreliable. The recommendation from the board of investigation is that no conclusion can be drawn up until the coronary findings have been given" The President laughed loudly

"They're all idiots, supernatural my ass. The foreigners are the only rational explanation and the fact that they can even suggest something else is frankly stupid"

"Don't believe in ghosts' sir?" Lindsey asked politely and mockingly when the President shot her an unsatisfied look she smiled and said "General Gray is here to see you about this subject sir" The president waved his hand at her signally her to usher the General in

When the General came in he sat down opposite the President's desk and spoke first

"Mr President I presume you've read the reports"

"Yes I have, what's your opinion?"

"I believe that whoever is doing this may not be working under a certain flag"

"Explain"

"Well sir, the report details it quite well why there is doubt but also the eye witness..."

"A crazy man is not a reliable eye witness"

"He seemed sane to my men sir. I don't believe Spec Ops would do this, it doesn't achieve anything they want"

"Their objectives can't be measured by our minds General they're Chinese for God's sake, all they wish to do is to cause terror which if this got out then that would be achieved"

"With all due respect I don't think we should leap to conclusions until we've learnt more sir"

"I personally don't believe that demons have come to Earth and are killing people. I've read the word Exclamber, what is it"

"That's baffled everyone, it isn't even a word in any language known or even extinct languages, may be their name"

This argument continued for numerous hours before the subject was changed onto international issues
