1000 years later

It's about 1000 years after Ashley became a "Real Girl" love doll. She is still fully functional and has been used by many different owners. She had been passed from father to son for nearly 20 generations but the family line died out when one generation produced only one child, a girl. Her father passed Ashley to his daughter in the hope she would pass the doll to her own son, but the young woman never bore any children and after her death Ashley was sold on the open market. Amazingly all her documentation survived the many transfers of ownership so many of the details of her life before conversion were still known.

Eventually she was discovered by a researcher for a love doll manufacturer. Most love dolls only continue to function for about 250 to 300 years. In an effort to discover the reason for Ashley's longevity, and to produce a better (and thus more expensive) love doll she is purchased by the researcher who begins to study her with all of the technologies available.

Dr. Leiod had placed sensors all over her body in an effort to discover what made her still respond 1000 years after she had died. He dropped his pants and worked himself up. He didn't want to destroy this bit of history so he set out to try to copy her conversion as closely as possible in an effort to make more like her. He knew that one of the only unique things this love doll had done was to remain nude for two months before she was converted. Also he learned that none of her owners had ever dressed her. He decided to start there. He recruited 16 volunteers to undergo conversion. Each was carefully converted in the exact same way Ashley had been. All 16 showed brain activity even after all their brains had supposedly been destroyed. Each one was carefully disassembled and the entire body carefully examined. Dr Leiod was amazed to discover that each love doll still contained a very small number of neurons, originally from the pleasure center of the brain, now located in the genital region. This explained the readings and the responsiveness of the doll. Next he wanted to find out if there was enough brain matter left to allow for awareness. Paying for the conversion of the 16 volunteers had nearly depleted his research grant, but he was able to convince the board that a new batch of volunteers could be sold afterward as this next test did not require the destruction of the dolls. Another 16 volunteers were recruited. This time Dr. Leiod trained each to produce a special brain pattern when they climaxed. This had to be done in a way that would prove that the volunteers were aware even after most of their brains had been destroyed and they were for all practical definitions quite dead.

It was a resounding success. All 16 volunteers produced the signal. After publishing his results men and women volunteered in droves for conversion. So many people were being converted that human population plummeted, from 18 billion in 3004 to just over 580 million by 3056. So many were converted that prices fell, love doll manufactures went out of business and most love dolls were left without owners. The dream of eternal orgasm had failed. On the bright side Earth's environment made a recovery. For those who survived it was a much better world.
