Poem Story: A Birthday Poem

You wished me happy birthday
You wished me health and cheer
You wished for me a good day
Surprised that I survived another year
This isn’t my first birthday
I hope it’s not my last
For now I’m feeling ok
Tomorrow time will start to move too fast
I’m young enough to party
Of age to vote and drink
Feeling strong and hearty
Wise enough to sometimes sit and think
I sat in contemplation
A thought came to my mind
An existential observation
Well at least it was a rhyme
I thought about advancing age
And realized with a grin
I’m older than I’ve ever been
And younger than I’ll ever be again.
