Chapter 17: Epilogue

Ensign nelson sat at his post at the deep space observation base, it was a do nothing post, a post you get when you have pissed someone off, he still couldn't figure out who he had pissed off. He was on the 4th hour of his shift at watch when he got the proximity alarm, something was slowing from hyper light speed and approaching the station.

He triggered the alarm, watching the monitors as the object slowed, he got a warning as the object had just scanned the station, he looked back as his C.O. Walked into the room in his pjs.

"Nelson this better not be another sensor ghost!" he growled as he approached the console.

"No sir, something just scanned us." He said pointing at the console.

The C.O. Looked at the screen, and pointed.

"its broadcasting information" The C.O. Said.

Nelson quickly pulled up the transmission.

"The Dauntless? I have never heard of her?" Nelson said looking at his C.O.

"I haven't either, pull up the ship registry" The C.O. Said

"U.S.S. Dauntless launched 2075 on a classified mission, My god sir thats 400 years ago." Nelson said.

"No wonder we haven't heard of her, its an Earth gov ship, thought we got all those bastards in the war." The C.O. said

The C.O. Went to his console, he typed in his authorization to read the encrypted portion of the message, his eyes widening.

"Nelson, prepare a wormhole message drone, we have to contact the President of the Colonies and the Senate." The C.O. Said typing into his console.

"And launch fighters to secure that thing out there, if it so much as flinches blow it up, looks like there are still some of those bastards alive out there." he growled as he sent off the new message drone.

Nelson started laughing.

"Boy these guys are going to be pissed when they find out earth was destroyed in the war huh sir?" Nelson said looking toward his C.O.

The C.O. Just glared at Nelson, shutting the young man up.
