Introduction: Recently in the SoL Forum a writer commented that a prompt to AI asking for a simple story about a cute modern college couple going on their first date ends up with them riding a train on Mars with elves and a werewolf. Sounds pretty good to me. It’s pretty much what happened on my first date. I was the elf and she was the werewolf. Or vice versa. Only it wasn’t Mars, it was Venus. Anyway, after a discussion about this with CoPilot, I asked her to do the story.
“The Waiter of Phosphor Café”
The café floated just above the amber clouds, tethered by nothing more than habit and good manners. Inside, the air shimmered with soft bioluminescence — the kind that made everyone look a little kinder, a little more curious.
At table seven sat an elf and a werewolf, both pretending not to notice how their hands had found each other across the menu. The elf’s cloak was still damp from the sulfur rain; the werewolf’s ears twitched every time lightning rolled through the window. They were nervous, but in that pleasant way that makes the world feel newly invented.
