Chapter 4
"You don't think Consuela saw me, do you?"
"No, I was watching for that, even if Steetch was totaly absorbed in the freakyness of
it all. Of all the freaky things you have done, this just takes the cake. So I need you to
tell me, what are you feeling when you do that? It contravines all of the laws of Physics
you know. How does it seem to you?"
"Yesterday morning, as I was swimming I entered my excercise induced meditative
state, and I felt connected to the water. The water seemed willing to accomidate me,
as if it would do as I asked, or as I expected. This morning, when I had it support me,
I just expected it to work, because it had facilitated my swimming, and didn't even get
me wet. I just tried harder, I mean, I wanted it enough so the water tried harder to do
what I expected, and I was confident that it would, so I expected it to work."
"Does it extend to any other medium?"
"I haven't tried anything else, I wanted to get your input and insight."
"What other matter do you feel might want to be helpful to you? Can you maintain that
meditative state?"
"Yes, I find I can enter that state of mind just by wanting it, sort of remembering it. I am
entering that state now, and am opening my awareness to my surroundings, to see if
anything seems willing to be accommidating ... I think the air seems willing to do what
I require of it ... what do I require of it?"
"Try for some fog, Freaky, just some early morning ground mist, that shouldn't be too
noticable, right, Hardcase?"
"Yeah, good suggestion, Steetch. See if the air will make a nice rising ground fog."
"Ok, here goes nothing."
"Wow, that was fast! It looks so natural too! Now try to dry all the dew from the lawn."
"Huh, it is a sunny California day after all. Neat, Ok, now that we are in the woods, make
a little cloud just over our heads."
"Oh, hey, we didn't order any hail! Cut it out! Oh awesome, snow! That is amazing! Here, I am
going to try to do something. Just a meditative state, open to anything awareness of the
surroundings, to see if something is accomidating, right? Ok, I am there, and the plants and
trees seem agreeable. I can sense that I don't want to ask too much, or it could harm
them. Oh, let me use some of that magic dust on this vine, then I can ask more of it without
causing it any dammage. Ok, see if this works."
"Wow, Hardcase, look at that vine grow! It must be growing three inches a second! oh, there it
is slowing down, and stopping. Was that all it could take?"
"Yeah, Steetch. That is all I could do without causing it harm. Let me see if I can ask anything
else to accomidate me. Hm, is that a tissue in your pocket? Let me have that.Let's see now..."
"Alright! It is charing and burning, in stutters and jumps, just like the plant growth! Are you doing
it that way on purpose, or is that all it is willing to do for you?"
"Well, I think I am subconciously afraid to let it burn any more vigorously- I am keeping it to
the willing to be helpful stage, and not into the natural combustion self sustaining flame stage.
You know, Freaky, that you set a fire, and a fire's gonna burn. How about you try something
else now?"
"Ok, let's see now ... opening to surroundings ... Got it. See that boulder there?"
"Hey, some of the surface is turning to sand. Oh, it is ... Is that me? Very artistic, but why am
I naked?"
"Oops, I guess my mind just thinks statues should be nude. I hope you don't mind? Just think
about the next person to come across it, ha ha."
"Oh, neat idea, that is amazing how those vines are growing like you want them to. It looks
like you are a dryad now, with the vine robes and all. Wow, that flower wreath on your head
is a nice touch. I think we have beautified this glade quite nicely."
"Thankyou Steetch, and I am flattered to be the subject of your sculpture, Freaky. Can you
also make soil and sand into rock? How about turning carbon into diamonds, like Superman?"
"Yeah, see? I am taking the rock I made into sand, and forming it into glasses for your statue.
Why did you want to see if I could do that? I don't know about forming diamonds, but probably."
"I just wanted to see if you could make us an underground hideout, that's all."
Awesome, you have the coolest ideas, Hardcase. Can you really do that Freaky, can you make
us a secret underground fort? That's just too cool for words!"
