Chapter 115: Sasami-Tsunami
The first few moments were the most disorientating.
Enduring an interval when she wasn't even certain who she was, let alone if she were conscience.
It only took an instant of collecting thought however to arrive at one inescapable conclusion.
"C-cold! S-so cold!"
A numbing sensation pervaded her renewed awareness. An icy tingling that seemed to define everything about her current state.
She tried to open her eyes only to find them apparently frozen shut.
"T-Time f-f-freeze..." Her thoughts sluggishly rolled. "Has to be ... Shouldn't even be awake, body's too c-cold."
She concentrated tapping tentatively into her reserves. Instantly feeling a rise in temperature and confidence as she drew directly upon the energy of the very devices holding her captive. The entire process, taking only a few seconds before she had marshaled enough to move.
It then only required a fraction of that to force open the door of her containment.
Having been brought to awareness noting another spike in temperature, Yadon was about the process of sounding an alarm when a second system reported an abrupt rise in atmospheric pressure within the chamber before him.
With emotionless precision, the ancient machine attempted to compensate. Only to find many of the systems at his command responding intermittently.
The discovery made less than an instant before the seals of the time freeze chrysalis suddenly burst.
Cryogenic gas boiling about her form as Sasami walked haltingly from the chamber! Teeth chattering glaring angrily.
The ancient Jurian guardian had less than a second to ponder the implications when a slender frost laden hand curtly gestured, hurling him instantly into the wall behind!
With a shudder through gritted teeth, she took a few additional seconds.
Drawing enough energy to completely thaw before reaching, touching the scarred surface of Kamora still sitting a few feet away. Just in the process of 'powering up' her antiquated systems.
The guardian had finished the last in it's systems 'boot list' when Sasami reached deep within its core, severing several key systems.
Instantly forcing the ancient machine to deactivate just as its one renovated sensor eye had started to flicker.
Sasami strolled past the now 'dead' Kamora, Feeling no pending remorse. Turning her full attention to its embedded companion Yadon.
"You are only guilty of being eternally faithful!" She coldly addressed the amber-eyed machine.
Simultaneously reaching out with her powers. Commanding the wall about the mechanism to grow as even long cured hyper-dense wood comprising the guardian's body also began to sprout.
"For that reason alone!" Sasami announced. "Am I sparing you!"
Thus Yadon was forced to watch helplessly as its body and the wall around it were effectively fused.
Sasami then turned, steam still rising from her hair, clothes and exposed skin. Walking slowly to the rooms doorway.
Raising her arms at the last moment, almost as an after-thought. Lightly brushing her fingertips across the surfaces of Azaka and Kamadaki resting to ether side of the portal. Instantly releasing the locks imposed on their systems.
She then waited, betraying an odd almost regal air, despite her current raiment. Or its lack there of, allowing both of Ayeka's more modern guardians to power up.
"Princess Sasami?" Asaka's voice muttered. Sounding as if he had just 'awoken' from a long sleep rather than being simply deactivated.
"Is that you?" He asked cautiously. The truly 'mechanical' portions of his being argued against his more 'human like' biological sensor.
Clearly at least 'visually' it was the second princess. wild hair and shockingly scant attire aside!
His other sensors however conveyed alarmingly that she was emitting broad E-M radiance! Spiking all over the spectrum! Particularly in the higher alpha bands.
"Follow, observe but do not interfere!" she told them both. The elder guardian's inquiry extracting a wane smile despite the current predicament. Yes, she was different. Almost sensing the machines thoughts.
Putting that matter aside, Sasami waited only long enough for her sister's personal guardians to power their grav-legs and float free of their platforms.
She then continued her pace forwards opening the rooms' door.
"Meanwhile I have a little family reunion to attend!" She added meaningfully.
"Ayeka has chosen the most darling little shrift!" Misaki simply gushed.
Siting, a few chairs down from where Funaho was seated beside an insanely huge dark wood conference table. The area just off of the cruiser's main bridge obviously was suited for more large scale military style gatherings. Or perhaps a small impromptu game of nine pins.
"Even thinner than the one I was married in!" She added delightedly. "You remember it?"
"Vividly." Funaho mused, attempting to cultivate a sense of serenity she simply didn't feel.
The queen also bore a look of weariness that she was also attempting to conceal. Having to result to the use of elixirs to sleep and restoratives upon waking over the last few days were taking their toll.
"I also recall how your composer broke the moment your bridal cloak opened and you heard the first round of hushed 'ooooooooo's' from the congregation!"
"Oh! YOU would bring THAT up!" Misaki griped mildly, blushing slightly even now.
Glancing covertly across at where both Azaka and Kamadaki were displaying cultivated 'deadpan' expressions. Being the only to Tanzuru in current attendance.
"That." Funaho smiled. "And you're blushing, visibly from head to toe thanks to that shrift!
Trying to hide behind one of the retainers as I remember."
She paused, gazing fondly at her sister in matrimony.
"You do know of course that's why people in the assembly started calling you the rose of Jurai!"
"Your one to talk." Misaki snorted while rolling her eyes.
"I demand that my clothing be made opaque!" She mocked, lilting her voice in to a rough approximation of Funaho's.
"I am a new mother! I will not be stripped and paraded around in some pagan ceremony! Before a city load of tree hugging idiots!" she then paused, attempting to stifle a laugh.
"I remember the imperial minister wanted you excommunicated!"
"That damn old fool!" Funaho swore.
"Making a scene on our wedding day! I would swear, the man was born senile!"
"Whatever happened to him?" Misaki asked leaning towards the queen, smiling darkly.
