The next day, I wake up in my new room.
Things still look the same as they did before. The only difference is that my bed is made up, some of my clothes are hanging in the walk in closet, my alarm clock is plugged in, and my toiletries litter the counter top in the bathroom.
I look around, almost forgetting where I am for a moment. The sunlight that comes through the double French doors is bright, and lights up the whole room.
I come into perspective. My room is full of boxes and various pieces of furniture. I wonder if everyone else's rooms are like this.
I climb out of bed, and head over to the door, opening it, I step out into the hall.
I hear Mom and Dad downstairs speaking in quite murmurs.
I go down, finding Adrienne and Peter down there also.
"Oh, there you are darling! We were just discussing what we were going to do for breakfast," Mom says.
"I don't care, I just need to get my room unpacked! I could hardly get out there was so much clutter!"
"That will come after breakfast. In the mean time, let's get showered and ready to head out. Brian showed me this really great little breakfast diner," Dad herds us all towards the stairs.
"Okay," we all hurry up the stairs and into our rooms.
The big double doors take up one entire wall of my room. I shower, blow dry my hair, and then get ready. I step outside onto the balcony in my bathrobe. The temperature is just right, not too cool, but warm without a cloud in the sky.
I put on a lavender tank top, jean shorts, and flip flops.
I grab my purse, and meet everyone downstairs.
We all get into the car, and head to that diner that Dad was talking about.
It turns out to be this really cute old fashion pancake house. They have really good food.
When we get back home, and for the next couple of days, it is unpacking central for the entire time. We only take breaks to eat and go out to get anything that we need, but usually we just drive ourselves to grab the little things like extension cords and phone connection cables.
The very first thing that I do, with Peter's help is hang the curtains in my bedroom. We hang the bar through the loops that the movers drilled in, and then I can do the rest. I put up the shear curtains, and the thicker curtains that will usually be pulled aside and match the darker blue on the wall.
I remake my bed, with all of the sheets and everything, the right way. I set up my bedside tables, my desk, my shelves, and then my closet.
My closet is the hardest part. I get by with painting shelves, figuring out how to plug in the lamps, and making everything fit into various places, but the closet is the hardest.
I now have a huge walk-in closet. The doors are full length mirrors. The inside is huge, with space on the end wall for a chest of drawers, and shoe racks if necessary. There is a lot of space between the bars on either side, and there is a lot of space above to store boxes and stuff.
I unpack all of my clothes, shoes, etc. While I organize everything else, I throw most of my clothes into the washing machine, making sure to sort them.
