If I hit the fast forward button on my life, this is what you would see:
Lots of tears, and then a period of happiness. Where we were all moving on. Kaitlin never left our minds, but we did eventually continue to live our lives. That was what she would have wanted for us to do, not to be stuck in the past.
Then came another period of tears. More tears and emotional stress than I could handle.
Then a plane ride.
And sun.
And there I was.
Back in California.
I couldn't believe I was back. I was back to the place that I had wanted to return to. The place that I could never let go of, and now could hold to me tightly.
Peter waved to me from one of the cars right outside the airport. He was grinning.
He was of course, going straight to Hayley's house.
I told him to drop me off at Kyle's. He laughed and agreed.
We drove past our old house, waving to it, blowing kisses. We were back, and would be living there.
He dropped me off in front of Kyle's house, and I gave him a big hug, both of us smiling with joy at being returned home.
I ran up the walk, my bag banging against my leg.
I rang the bell, impatiently shifting from foot to foot, waiting.
When the door opened, there he was.
All I could do was drop my bags, and throw my arms around him.
As the water started to roll down my cheeks, and hit his shoulder, I felt a drop of water hit mine. And I knew we were both crying.
For happiness though.
I was back in Kyle's arm, where I was safe.
I was back where I was home.
