I woke up the next morning with a pounding migraine.
I looked at my clock, it was already one o'clock.
I lay in bed for over twenty minutes, when Mom finally came in.
"Morning honey," she said, and I could tell that she knew everything.
To my look, she nodded. "Kyle has called eight times, Brittany and Charlotte six, Parker and Erin five. Everyone is worried about you. Some kid named Leo also called, isn't he your stunt partner?"
I nodded.
She smiled at me. "Don't worry honey. I'm just thankful that you have such great friends to get you home safely even when you're so wasted you can't stand straight."
"I have never heard a mom say the word wasted before."
"Don't look so shocked honey, I got wasted a lot when I was your age, younger, and a lot older too." She smiled at me, and I knew she wasn't upset. I wanted to make sure though.
"Are you upset?"
"Of course not. I am just so thankful to your friends. They love you enough to watch out for you."
I nodded.
"I should probably make some phone calls," I said.
She nodded, and kissed me on the forehead. "I'll see what I can do about getting you something to eat."
I smiled, "Thanks mom, you're the best."
She left.
I kicked the covers aside to get out of bed.
The second I stood up, I ran to the bathroom to puke.
I started crying like I always did when I threw up. "Mom!"
She came in, and grabbed a hair tie out of a drawer to hold back my hair.
I lay on the marble floor, pressing my forehead against the cold marble. It felt so good.
"Come on honey," she helped me up.
Peter came in, and helped me get up, and under the covers.
"I'll see if I can also get some Pepto," she said, grinning and handing me a trash can.
"Thanks so much mom," I called after her.
Peter sat on the edge of my bed.
"What?" I asked. I hated when he gave me that look. The same look that Mom and Daddy sometimes gave me. The "I'm disappointed in you" look. You know what it is. Every teenager sees it at least once in their teenage years.
"I can't believe it. My little sister..." he laughed to himself. "My little sister got drunk."
"Shut up," I moaned, I rolled over.
"So I heard you made the rounds last night."
I could have punched him in the nose. "What are you talking about?"
"The stunt group? Andrew? Come on Sophie, you have more sense than that."
"It started with Leo..."
"And ended with Kyle, we all know."
"Who does?"
"Well they all told me, because I am after all your brother."
"Thanks for reminding me."
"Come on Sophie, this can't be good for your reputation."
"Hey, you get drunk all the time too. What about the Seniors? They are the biggest drunks I have ever seen, yet they stay popular! And it doesn't effect their reputation!"
"Doesn't it?"
I leaned back. "I guess."
"Come on Sophie, just watch out for yourself. You're only a sophomore, I don't want you getting hurt."
"Just be glad that that was my first and last time." Turns out I had puked because of poisoning or something. First time with the alcohol didn't go well.
"I will..." he laughed. "You should probably get to making some phone calls. That phone has been ringing off the hook. Needless to say, you have a lot of people who care about you Sophie."
"Thanks," I smiled at him as he left.
I realized that I had to get up to go to my desk.
I managed to get the address book, and back into bed without falling. It was a miracle. Then I realized my purse with my cell phone in it was on the bedside table. I groaned, and grabbed it. I found the numbers I was looking for.
I grabbed the phone, and dialed. I was calling the people who had called me the least first. AKA procrastinating and dealing with Kyle last.
"Hi, may I please speak to Leo?" I asked when a woman picked up.
"Hold on a second please." I heard her yell his name, and then in a few seconds Leo picked up. There was another click as the person hung up.
"Hello?"
"Leo? This is Sophie."
"Oh, hi. How are you?"
"Okay I guess. How about you?"
"Fine." He sounds kind of uncomfortable.
"Look, about last night..."
"No."
"Look, I have no idea what I was thinking."
"Neither do I, I think I was just on the rebound from Jessie, and was willing to take anything, even from a sophomore who already has a boyfriend, and is too close a friend for me to go out with."
I thought about his words for a second. That was how he saw me. "Well, don't look to me for the answers. I was acting crazy, and I ended up so wasted by the end of the night I could hardly see straight. I just wanted to call and apologize, and thank you for calling earlier."
"Oh, no problem. I saw Kyle carrying you out, I just wanted to make sure you were okay and everything."
"Thanks."
"Yeah."
"Well, I guess I should go."
"Yeah, I probably should too."
"I'll talk to you later, okay?"
"Yeah, bye."
I hung up, and dialed Parker's number.
"Hey," I said when he picked up.
"Soph?"
"Yeah."
"Oh god, how are you? I tried calling, but your mom kept saying that you were asleep."
"Yeah, I woke up at like one."
"Whoa."
"Well, I just wanted to call and thank you for calling to check up. And I'm really sorry about the way I acted last night."
"Don't worry about it. If anything, it is our fault, and Joey's. He had a bunch of alcohol and stuff there, and we were didn't notice when you started acting weird in time to stop you."
"Was I really that bad?" I was horrified at the way he said it. It made it seem like I was twenty times worse than I had thought I was.
"No, really don't worry about it. But we could tell it was your first time. You got kind of sick, and really dizzy and weak."
"Didn't take the alcohol that well?"
"Definitely not."
"Which is why I am never doing that again."
"Sounds like a plan."
"Look, I am going to call some other people, so I'll talk to you later."
"Okay, see you later."
"Bye."
I hung up, and called Erin. Pretty much the same talk.
I decided to conference Brit and Char.
I called Brit, and conferenced Char.
"Hey girls."
"Oh my gosh, thank god you're okay," Char said.
I laughed, "Yeah, I'm doing good. I feel a bit sick, but otherwise I'm good."
"We were really worried about you last night. We could all tell you hadn't been drunk before. You got sick, dizzy, weak. We thought something was really wrong," Brit informed me.
"So I've heard. I just want to apologize for the way I acted and everything."
"Oh gosh, totally don't worry about it."
"Thanks guys."
"I heard you hooked up with some guys," Brit said.
"From who?"
"When we called, Peter picked up. He told us."
"Ugh ... I'm going to kill him."
"No, don't. We asked if you did anything drastic."
"You did?"
"Yeah, we're here to look out for you. And after this, we are going to go online and talk to people and tell everyone that you are doing great, and are never going to do that again. You're glad that was your first and last time."
"You guys are the best."
"That's what best friends are for," Char said.
"Question though..."
"Yeah?"
"What did Peter say?"
"Well, that you hooked up with Kyle, your stunt group, and Andrew."
"But not Harry ... Oh god ... please make sure that doesn't get around, will you guys?"
"Of course, we don't want to do that to you, or to them."
"And make sure the guys don't tell?"
"Of course."
"Well look, I think I'm going to call Kyle. But you guys rock."
"We love you! Later babe!" Brit said.
"Totally, we'll call later okay?" Char asked.
"Sure. Bye."
I hung up, and punched in Kyle's number. I was kind of worried about how this talk would go.
"Hi, Kyle?"
"Hey Sophie," he sounded really tired or quiet, like he was loosing his voice. Maybe he was being careful in case I had a headache or something. "How are you feeling?"
"Okay thanks, what about you?"
