Chapter 2

I get all of my school paperwork and everything three weeks before school starts. It is the start of my Junior year. I can't wait.

The second I open the envelope, figure out which homeroom I am in, and either groan or yelp with excitement, I call Maddie. Maddie is my best friend Madison Williams, who lives three houses down the street from me. Actually more like mansions down the street.

She picks up, "April?! Oh my gosh?! Do you have Porter for homeroom?!"

"You better believe it!"

We scream together, and I jump up and down, knocking my papers to the floor.

I hold the phone to my ear with my shoulder, and pick up everything.

We compare schedules. Turns out, we have everything together, just like we always have.

"This is so awesome! Now have you called the girls?" Maddie asks.

The girls is the group of girls who we hang out with. The most popular girls in school, us. Also the cheerleaders, Maddie and me as captains. There are ten of us, known as the Fab Five Times Two. Yeah, I know, stupid name, but whatever. The ten of us are: me, Maddie, Jessica, Charlotte, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Brittany, Taylor, Lucy, and Samantha. We are the most popular ten girls in our grade, and next year will be the most popular in the school, because we will be seniors.

"No, but I will. You take Brit, Tay, Luce, and Sam. I'll take Jess, Char, Alex, and Liz."

We have nicknames for all of us. People just call me April (or Apple if they feel like being annoying), people call Madison Maddie or Madd, Jessica: Jess, Charlotte: Char, Alexandra: Alex, Elizabeth: Liz, Brittany: Brit, Taylor: Tay, Lucy: Luce, and Samantha: Sam.

"Deal, be sure to write them down."

"Will do, call you back in an hour."

For the next hour, I set about calling the girls. Turns out, all the girls I have called have all their classes with me and Maddie, and we are all in the same homeroom. Hopefully we will have some cool people in our homeroom. Last year we actually had a lot of dorks. The ten of us have hung around together since we first met in fifth grade, at the start of middle school. Who knows, we will probably all end up going to the same college, get married to ten brothers, and all live in Beverly Hills for the rest of our lives. All together.

I only used up forty five minutes, so for the next fifteen minutes, I finish going through my paperwork and everything.

Mom and Dad come home from work, Maddie calls, we exchange notes, and then dinner is ready.

We have a cook and a maid. Pearl is our cook, a heavyset jolly woman who has been with my parents since they got married, and Veronica is our maid, Pearl's sister. Pearl reminds me a lot of Sukie on "Gilmore Girls" and Veronica is exactly like her sister. They're twins. At first, we all had difficulty telling them apart, but now, if someone gets them confused, I literally think they are crazy. It is so easy to tell them apart now.
