We watched them get in their cars and drive away. The sheriff’s deputies took all the weapons as evidence. They started taking pictures and getting the bodies ready for the coroner to pick them up. It was late and we all were tired. Running Elk said, “Why don’t you come to my house while we fix up your house.”

“I have a better idea; we will all go back to town and stay in a hotel.” I spoke.

“You will not have any protection there.” Running Elk said.

“Nobody will know we are there and will not be looking for us there either. They might know about you and be watching your place along with any of the Tribe places.” I spoke.

“Well, when you put it that way I agree. But you need to take weapons with you. Here let me show you something your Grandpa and I put in.” Running Elk said. With that he went to the closet and pulled on a hook just under the rod on the left side. The floor outside the left side of the closet began to rise. It was an elevator big enough for four people to ride in. Running Elk and I got in and went down. It lowered into a panic room. There were two bunk beds and a bathroom under the one upstairs. There was survival stuff on shelves. Next to the lift was a gun rack. There were six combat shotguns, four assault rifles, two sniper rifles, twelve pistols, eight combat knives and several cases of ammo. We picked up four pistol holsters and an extra magazine for each pistol and four boxes of ammo before returning topside.

I gave each girl a pistol, holster extra magazine and box of ammo. Running Elk walked with us to the garage telling us to be very careful and wishing us well.

We took the Liberty this time. Dove was driving. I was riding next to her in the front. Jen and Tammy were sitting behind us. We loaded all the magazines as she drove to town and stopped at a nice restaurant for a very late dinner. Then checked into the hotel, I got the largest suite they had. There were two bedrooms each with two double beds and a bathroom. They were joined by a large sitting room and shared a large Jacuzzi.

Once we were in the suite I asked, “Who was sleeping where?”

Dove said, “Tammy gets to sleep with you tonight. After all, you already got to second base with her.” Everyone laughed as she continued, “We have all talked about this and agree to share you between us if you agree to that. “Girls, I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?” I spoke.

Dove said, “You better give us the bad news first and hope the good news is good enough to save you mister!”

“The bad news is I have been keeping a secret from you. The good news is I can AFFORD to pay for everything.” I said trying to smile.

“What does that mean?” they all said together.

“Let me just say that life insurance from all of my family gives me an allowance of $1000 a day. I have not spent a dime since I received payment, so I figure I have around $80,000 to spend right now.” I spoke.

And there it was again ‘fish-itis’ all three girls were suffering from it.

I tried to smile but was afraid of what the girls were going to do.

“You’re serious?” Tammy said at the same time Dove said, “Really?” and Jen said, “NO Joke?”

“Girls, I should say Ladies. I did not mean to keep this from any of you. I truthfully had not thought about it. Mostly because it brings back the memory of my family’s death. I also think that I really don’t believe it myself. But it is true. I have seen the bank statements and have the Bank Cards too.” I said quietly.

The scary, deathly silent moment lasted only a few seconds but seemed like forever.

The girls all looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and turned to me saying, “We’ll forgive you this time.” And then they all giggled.

I breathed a breath of relief and said, “Where to first?”

“The Mall!” we all said together laughing as we moved to the register to pay for breakfast. Dove had the keys and walked out the door followed by Tammy. Jen was standing behind me as I paid. It seemed like she was watching my back. I asked her as we walked out, “Are you watching my back or just being slow?”

Jen smiled looking embarrassed as she answered, “You are too observant for your own good. We all decided to take turns looking out for you, before you told us about your fortune. So, don’t think this is an impulsive action on our part. We all really do care about you NO in truth WE LOVE YOU! With all that is going on we have decided that one of us will always be with you so just suck it up and deal with it!

I just nodded my head ‘yes’ and jumped into the SUVs front seat while Jen climbed into the back with Tammy. Dove drove to the mall and parked in the underground lot near a main entrance on the Southside.
